In memory of September 11th

In memory of September 11th

A tribute

Five years ago on September 11, 2001, 19 men boarded four planes in the United States with the intention of hijacking them and crashing them into important buildings with the hope of killing as many people as possible.

Three of those planes made it to their targets killing over 3,000 people. The fourth one crashed after passengers attempted to retake the plane after learning the fate of the other three planes.

For Americans, September 11th marked a major turning point for how the country viewed the world. For people outside the United States, the choices and response to September 11th has stirred a great deal of debate.  Even within the United States, there is a great deal of disagreement over how best to continue to carry out the response to the terrorist attacks and the growing movement of violent Islamic radicalism.

The people who attacked the United States were part of a terrorist organization called Al Qaeda. A radical Islamic group dedicated to restoring the historic caliphate that once existed from Spain to the far east, Al Qaeda considered the United States as an obstacle to their goals of turning "moderate" Muslim states such as Saudi Arabia and Egypt into fundamentalist Islamic Republics modeled after then Taliban-ruled Afghanistan. Their belief was that if the US presence in the middle east as well as its support of countries such as Saudi Arabia and Israel could be removed that they moved one step closer to their goal. They believed, wrongly, that the US response would be to withdraw its presence from the middle east just as it had done so in Somalia in the mid 1990s.

On this day, we at this site give our thoughts to the families of the men and women who died on that day. And we support the valiant men and women in the armed forces from the United States and other countries who are working to put an end to organizations and movements that support the indiscriminate wholesale annihilation of innocents.

We hope the world does not forget 9/11.  We certainly will not.

A horrific act is a horrific act. But let's not forget that the loss of lives on 9-11 involved MANY DIFFERENT NATIONALITIES and RELIGIOUS SECTS. NOT just White American Protestants. Please if you will, remember the pain of losing someone close and that others feel the same pain; then perhaps there wouldn't be an ONGOING travesty in Iraq right now. There should be no "hunting" in the Middle East except for Bin Laden. For those of you who are so goddamn redneck blooded on this board, why WON'T YOU volunteer then? For all your bluster and faux patriotism, it all comes down to selfish personal frustration and aggression and has NOTHING to do with improving this country whatsoever. There are plenty of us who are SICK AND TIRED of people like you constantly wanting to "kick ass." DO IT ON WITH YOUR OWN HANDS, FEET AND TOTAL BARBARIC RAGE; LEAVE THE REST OF THE F**K ALONE!!! REMEMBER THE TRAGEDY, YES, BUT ONLY WITH GRACE AND HUMILITY, NOT WITH SOME OVERLY CLICHED F**KING TEXAN MORONIC TRAILER TRASH MACHISMO!!!

Those who are there Volunteered, as did I when I was young enough. Every generation of my family has served since the Civil War. We do not assume freedom as being "FREE" I was taught that what we have is worth any sacrifice. Helping others achieve it helps us protect it. Most soldiers/sailors and their families believe this. WHO ARE YOU to judge them. What service to your fellow man or anyone other than yourself do YOU perform. I have the feeling very few of the "protestors" have defended their freedom or performed any public service for what they consider "their rights".

I have to assume from this statement someone forced you to read this thread. I also assume your not welcome in Texas.

There are 364 other days of the year the theories could be discussed, and in another thread.

The events of 9/11 were horrific to say the least, and let's all hope that history never repeats....it was too sad a day for anyone to ever re-live, and nobody should ever have to.

However, given some of the comments I've just read here, I'm both elated and appalled.

IF there was any good to have come out of the events of 9/11, it's the greater unity and compassion within the brotherhood of decent and sincere human beings who truly care and strive to support one another regardless ....

....that now we can more easily recognise and avoid those insensitive jerks who seemingly take great pleasure in glamorizing this tragic event with 'inside job, friendly fire' conspiracy theories. People like you repulse me,. that you'd desecrate the sad and painful memories of millions with your retarded drivel.

Sady, we must suffer your moronic comments/opinions....but at least I/we can take comfort from knowing the majority of us are above all that, and you're a minority blemish, a stain upon the fabric of humanity.
