1 mean Yor Transport

Came across 2 of these Transports while attacking a Yor Planet... (Forget witch one) This is taken from a game playing with the 1.30 patch, Gigantic Map, Maso Level... Let me tell you, I'm glad I attacked the planet with my Battleship(Huge) and a Battle Cruiser(large)- Any of my other ships would have bought the farm... 51 attack on a Transport???




I've never seen anything like that before- perhaps seeing the AI arm Transports with that kind of fire power is normal before 1.3, but some how I doubt it. Just want to give the
developers a on the new system- I'm loving it. This has got to be the toughest game of Galciv2 I have ever played, if I survive this scrap with the Yor, it'll be a miracle... (I am not even 18 months into this game yet- The Yor had already killed of the Drath Legion- they cooled there jets for about a month- then massing some ships on the boarder and decided it was time to kill me...) Well, I must go face the Yor onslaught. If I don't return... I'm sure you can guess what happened

Interesting, I think I would take it out with a small fighter. It's only got 1 hp. Then award the fighter pilot a medal for bravery...postumously.

it happens, the AI gets a lot of firepower, maybe it's because of "hit points" bonus the AI gets when playing more difficult level... you should try playing more easy games...

Putting weapons on transports is new to 1.3 I think. I have seen some defenses before this (normally the 1,1,1 like this ship), but not that kind of weaponry. It should make for a more interesting game, for sure.

lol- Normaly I would- but in this game I've been struggling to get my Empire off the ground, and just don't have the manufactoring capacity to throw any ship away... I think I've turned the tide thou- I am now cranking out my small fighters at a rate of 1 to 2 a turn, am averaging taking a planet a turn since I was able to trade for 17 troop Transports from the Korx... This is where the other shoe drops:
Since I had 17 Troop Transports in Korx space, they accused me of preparing to invade and declared a war on me, then they turned around and bought a bunch of Troop Transports from the Yor... (Smacks head - rolls eye) lol. And since the armorment on the Transports isn't working for them, they've upgraded the Transports...

Hey thanks for the vote of cofindence M U... lol- But I've always get more upset when the game is to easy, as opposed to a game like this where it feels like I'm getting touched in ways that I should tell an adult... No means NO! I have a right to defend my empire!!!

my last game the ai had armed freighers running around and they where standing up to other ais frigates

and my sea horse transport is built on a huge hull so in the end of the game i get around 70 attack and `150 defense and 14 moves plus any bonuses

as I can see, your fleet don't have any chance to survive the battle, but for exmple:

-some people had games that the Korx had 10 doom rays on a small hull and it gave them 100 + beam plus hit points bonus...but it supposed to be like this so you get more challenge (I think) but I won't post false information so don't think it's true...

Ya... That little ship was one I posted- 5 doomrays... 127 attack. Luckily in that game he started to mass produce those a little to late... *whew* The only plus I can see to engaging fleets that have transports like the ones I've posted is thats your doomed ship is going to shoot at the transport first, so I've made little 'Torpedo boats' (1 gun the rest engines, tiny hull) And simply slam them into the incoming transport fleets. Works well.
Those transports are armed with Phasor V's I think (There top weapon) and I've destroyed all there Defense Mines
(as far as Maso level Kyro said that the AI gets alsorts of bonuses- Alot more minituration and the such) As far as this game goes, I'm 4 years in now, I've broken the backs of my oppresors, and soon I shall rule the galaxy!!! bahawahahahahaaa!

I started seeing the "guns on cargo hulls" during the 1.3 beta releases. Cool idea. It gives them a chance to take out a single attacker at a low low price. This wouldn't have been possible in earlier version of GalCiv2 where the defender doesn't get to shoot back if the attacker does enough damage to kill them in the first attack round.
