i must say that i sat and used every single one of the skins listed and payed absolutely *ZERO* attention to what comments people made. *I* judged and ed what I thought to be the correct choices for each category. i stand behind my ions, which might or might not necessarily reflect the winners, but nonetheless i will say that i was never once influenced by outside sources.

Well said, Jark.

Incidentally, most of the judges who voted on the Winamp skins were from Nullsoft. And as far as I know, they didn't look at any comments. My point about the news comments as that if someone felt that some skin was so obviously the "Best" they should have commented on it in the news items and such. Not that it would necessarily have influenced the judges or not, but at least you'd be on record having thought a particular skin was the best. It was *not* my intention to speak on behalf of the judges incidentally on how they vote. I'm just the messenger, not the judge.

Congrats to all the winners and congrats to the judges for having the balls to do the judging after some of these comments :)

wow, my comment got majorly mangled by the stardock text parser!

Frogboy, I didn't said you are a judge, I know you are a messenger. But tell to those judges that, in the next GUIO will be even less WA skins to judge :D (better for them I believe) Mission accomplish :)

You're assuming that WA would be in the next GUIO. I'm not even sure what the objection is on the WA winning entries since I don't personally use WA. I looked at the screenshots, they look good to me. What is there all this angst?

The judging sucks, D Reliction should have won first, its the easiest to use, and the quality is perfect. How it ends up in third, is crazy. Also agree that last order icons should have been first for best pseudo.

No cause till then (in 2 years from now I believe) maybe will be no Winamp out there...... no one knows, but don't expect to have teams that put effort to make any Interface design on independent application as (Winamp, Sonique, WMP etc.) and to waste their time again to participate on such events...... And a small advise, next time setup the website to be able to handle this event, put it on a fast (at least for the Europeans) server, make a reliable custom configurable easy database, and think about the team options and skins update policy before put it online in public :) Enough said I think ...... Again congrats to all, and as I said before, we all have different tastes and we have facts to support them, except the judges or the GUIO policy setup that still don't tell us why each skin was ranked there compared with the rest on each category they was in this competition. GoodNight from Greece.

not only i have decided against ever entering another GUIO, but i feel inclined to pull my skin out of the competition as a sign of protest, not simply because of my own ass raping but also for the ass raping of skins such as D-Reliction. EMP 2 won both catagories, hahaha what a joke! (tis a good skin, but not worthy of a double win thats for sure) was astounded that some skins would even bother entering such a 'high-standard' competition, for some of those skins to go on and win is, well utter crap.

this competition is a joke, judging a winamp skin is not like judging a windowblinds skin. It doesnt have to be an ugly square thying like that EMP2. Really lame results, but what would you expect from a competition where you win a winamp pro registration? ;)

Official judges from the Winamp events: On Winamp skins: 1) Steve from Nullsoft 2) Jonathan from Nullsoft 3) Jark from deviantART 4) Voodoo from Neowin 5) Kris from Stardock Just going off the screenshots, they all look good to me. Some of you seem to be thinking that the events were supposed to be about the best overall winamp skin or something. They weren't. They were about the most usable and best power user skin and each judge used their best determination to come up with which ones they thought were the best in those categories.

seeing the list of official Winamp event judges, I can tell you, none of them were involved in the creation of the skin-engine (Wasabi). Francis made Maki and parts of Wasabi, Brennan made most of Wasabi and Aus was involved aswell, however, Brennan and Aus don't work for Nullsoft anymore.. They are the three main people behind Wasabi and none of them are judges in theese events. Steve is a designer, he made the graphics for the Classic base skin and the Winamp3 base skin for example and I'm not really sure what role Jonathan has. You said I should start my own contest huh? Well, I'm sorry if my comments sound too harsh and judgmental, but lately, you (the entire GuiOS) have made yourself very hard to like. I would definitely consider entering again, BUT if I am gonna do that, some changes really need to happen, you need to start listening to the peoples suggestions and do something about the complaints. Most of the people complaining in here are veteran Winamp skinners. That should tell you something is wrong. I _want_ to like the GuiOS, but I can't atm and it seems I'm really not alone. The solution to this is NOT skipping Winamp next year, it's listening to the contestants and make some adjustments based on their suggestions, not just diss them.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. I can only speak for myself but I don't see very much constructive criticism or recommended changes. From this non-judge vantage point (i.e. speaking for myself), it just looks like some people didn't like the results of one of the Winamp events and are complaining.
BTW, Plague, you csaid you would consider entering in a future GUIO. Did you enter in any skins into THIS contest?
you want some constructive criticism? You can start by recognizing the coders of the skins! Make it possible to be TWO authors of the same skin, without beeing just members in a team! So we've won like a t-shirt and a wa pro license now eh? But only one of each? How are we supposed to divide that in two equal piles? Coders get screwed over all the time, it's not fun anymore..

ROFL D-Reliction i say good job for makin such skin..but in my opinion Judges did the right thing..but it doesnt really matter what i say coz people are just so stuborn and wont quit till they get tehir medal so jez give the poor guy the medal he needs it really bad :( :p

"From this non-judge vantage point (i.e. speaking for myself), it just looks like some people didn't like the results of one of the Winamp events and are complaining." No Frogboy, seems that many people agree with us, only your 5 judges had different opinions :) A constructive question, to the finished WA categories the skins participated now can be submitted on other websites? or this is also against the rules now they are "judged" ? Let's stop all bitching, we are alot and only Frogboy answers, it's unfair, this guy has to get some rest too....... (who is next?) :D As about Plague's notice, this is one of those things websites/companies/users don't understand, I'm an artist, but ALL my skins if was not coded from great coders would be only (dead)graphics, sometime world must see that a skin belongs 50-50 to artist/coder and not only to artist with gfx and ideas of a concept...... NOW GOODNIGHT from Greece..........
