Bumping up the interactivity of minor races?

I'd like to see Stardock increase the interactivity of the minor races, if only to make them a bit mor annoying or increase there presence in the game.

Most games I have at least two or more minor races. They steal techs, get attacked by the major races, create lots of starbases, try to beat you to the good resources, you can make money out of them by selling techs to them, but most of the time they don't do too much else. Although I did see them beat the Altarians once.

I don't know the answer to my own question here. But there must be a way to make them more a part of the game. i.e. more annoying so that you do have to deal with them in more ways than one. Maybe in Dark Avatar they could raid your mining asteroids or transport ships?

Any thoughts on the matter.

Well, if they did more then they wouldn't be very "minor", now would they

I think there is every case to return them to the state they were in in GCI. Allow them to colonize in a given area and limit them to that. i used to find it great that whilst battling the Drengin the Scottlingas would come and attack you as well.
All major races start out as minors at some point so why not allow the minors in GCII to grow.
Hell all you need do (yes this is a generic term as i know it a lot harder than this) is give them a 'dumbed down' versio of a Majors AI.

This would also add back in a bit of the random issues we had for GCI that we dont now. Cmon we already lost the spacemonsters!!

You could even use them in government voting. What if when you were alied with them they added weight in some manner to the votes and visa versa. (Not sure if this is even possible, coding wise).

how about random event two or more of the minors unite to form a new major

and i still say that if the minors have no vote in the up then they are not part of the up and you should still be allowed to trade with them if you drop out of the up
