Stardock Central always very slow to check for updates

Whenever I go into Stardock Central - Skins & Themes and then click 'Check for Updates' it all goes very slow, it generally pops up about 1 new skin each 10-20sec so takes ages if I haven't checked for a while. Aslo while this is happening, the whole PC is very very slow doing anything else.

Is there anything I can do to change this?

I've checked on differant PC's doinmg a fresh SDC install with std settings but they all fo the same thing.

Would love to sort this one.

Generally, I just use SDC to check for program updates ~as I've always found the method you use to check for new skins quite slow.

I simply use Firefox to browse the WinCustomize site itself for new/updated skins.

The bonus with using firefox is that nine times out of ten it recognizes the installed program for the file you're downloading, and applies it that way as a default [if you set it to.]

It's also [for me] quite a bit faster than browsing with I.E. ..but thats an entirely different discussion

OK, I guess I'll do that but seems crazy that a simple thing has such a bad influenece on the whole PC!
