SOCIAL MILITARY AND RESEARCH SETTINGS

My question in a nutshell is basically, what setting should my planet be on for maximum income? This is assuming that there is nothing being built and no research going on. It is late in my game, I've researched everything, and now it is time to build up resources to begin the wars of conquest. Since downloading the beta (1.3 was it?) it seems like the numbers on my planets don't make much sense. If I click to build something the social bar actually raises and the production goes from saying "never" to an actual number of turns necessary. By doing this a couple of times the numbers eventually get to where they remain the same, i.e. click to build a factory, and it comes up time, "never". Highlight social and the turns to build turns into 20. Click social again to unhighlight, turns go to let's say 40. Click again on social and it finalizes that it will take 12 turns to build a factory. From there by clicking and unclicking the turns to build number will go from 20 when unhighlighted to 12 when highlighted. Is this a glitch or is it supposed to happen. No matter what my planet is set on, military, social, research or nothing at all, when I click to build something the time it will take says "never" until I go through the routine I mentioned above. Anyone else notice this?

If you have nothing in your social building queue, the production gets shifted to military spending, as long as the military slider is set to at least 1%. This is why clicking on a building appears to increase the social numbers...that production stops being transferred.

What you're seeing with using the highlight buttons is a glitch. The planetary screen often does not display the correct build times (and as far as I can remember, has never been totally accurate in any version). The colonies summary page is more accurate, but even that has had updating issues in the past. However, these are all just display issues...the game calculates and applies the correct production levels.

As far as your original question goes, if you want maximum income, just build nothing and make sure the research slider is at 0%. That way you'll spend nothing on research whilst all the unused production spending will get sent straight back to your treasury.

or just set your spending to 0
