Fun stuff . . . just remember all of us who won't be upgrading to Vista for a while.

it includes a new technology called SmartSkinning which enables skins designed with Windows XP in mind to automatically be extended to skin the new GUI elements of Windows Vista

well now THAT is a home run

SmartSkinning, yes!
Still sticking with XP PRO SP2, 'til the bugs are worked out(a bit more...). Great work, everyone involved.

Thanks for providing a transition between where we are & where we're going
There's too much good stuff just to chuck it with the upgrade

Is windowsblinds gonna support the Aero "blur" effect?

Yeah that IS the feature that I would like Windowblinds 5.xx versions to have and of course Windowblinds Vista. Would that be possible, Mr. Frogboy?

BUT for now... with Windowblinds Vista!

Not in WindowBlinds 5.x.  That will require quite a bit more work.  Microsoft's had to do some pretty scary stuff to get that effect be remotely fast and it is extremely hard coded.

pardon me if i'm missing something obvious, but what new stuff does this bring to the table? or is that classified? the screenshots don't look all that different from wb5 to me.

The big thing the screenshots are showing is WB running on Vista using existing WB skins.  If you recall when XP came out, older WB skins lacked the startmenu & taskbar sections which looked bad.

Well, LOL if you put it that way then perhaps i just have to wait for Windows Vista and Windowblinds Vista to get that feature.

So there isn't any big chances of being able in the fututre to create your own effect is it then? (Speaking of Vista systems here) It's a Shader effect isn't it? I've been watching Greg Schechter's Blog as he's been posting information on how some of the graphic system in Vista work.

And now that Vista is in RC, will you make the WindowBlinds Vista beta availible?

Any body know what screencapture program takes that good a' pic? When you zoom in on that it's like lookin at your own desktop. Mine is a pretty low res. I'd like to replace it with one of that quality

Not in WindowBlinds 5.x.  If we do that, it would be a WindowBlinds 6.x feature.

We plan to have a WindowBlinds 5.x version that runs on Windows Vista in the near future.  WindowBlinds 5.x has the features mentioned in the article.

The print screen button on your keyboard.
Does nothing

I'm using ScreenPrint32 V3

Works great, F12 right to my pictures, but pic quality is nothing like zoomed in vista shots above

The "print screen" button takes a screen shot at whatever resolution your using (ie 1600x1200, 1024x768, 1280x1024, etc.

You THEN have to use the paste function (ctrl+v) to paste it into a graphics program like Paintshop Pro or even Paint. THEN you can save it in whatever format you wish that your program supports such as .jpg .bmp .png, etc.

yes... that worked... print sreen button> right click desktop, or my pics> new> photoshop image> ok> Ctrl+V> Save as>

A lil' more work than a one key program, but much better quality contol

Thanks

I really want to see WindowFX for Vista. I'd like to control the default Vista transitions as well as add my own(or others) that use the Vista code (or whatever)
