Hunkering down again

Another badass TS

Yep, that time of the year again. No work tomorrow, no schools tomorrow because of the tropical storm that's on our horizon. Supposed to pass over us or near enough to us to stop all activities for a day.

It was a busy evening of people going about the business of making sure their supplies are updated, and they have enough to wait out the storm if necessary.

I certainly hope that won't become a reality. For now, we're all home tomorrow. Except hubby whose job requires him to be out there when things like this happens. I'll be holding down the forth and hopefully my two youngest won't be at each others throat.

Hopefully I'll get somethings done, but knowing how antsy I'll be, probably not. No wonder I was a nervous wreck most of the day today! Yeah, and talking even more than usual! Have you seen how much I've written today?!

Calm and tranquility imagined. Serenity now, serenity now.

I saw on the news that there was another one headed toward Florida, and I wondered if that might affect you.

I echo Kelly's sentiment: Stay safe!

Your family will be in my thoughts.

Take some of its punch out of it, so we get a good soaker, and not a flooder when it gets here Friday.

That's cute Jen, thx!

Oh we're hoping by the time it does get to us it will be a little light, minus all the 'fireworks'! We'll do our best!
Be safe sista...you and yours.

Thx Tonya!

It should be here around 1pm the news says. I dropped my hubby at work this morning. It's pretty dark and heavily overcast. The calm before a storm, that's an apt description! In a way eerily beautiful.

I hope it is nothing serious, and will be thinking of you while I keep up wiht the weather channel!

well I"ll say a prayer tonight that the girls get along all day and that the storm just kind of blows over without much to worry about!

Don't you just hate that "having to get ready" and hunker down business?  we do it here in winter when a major snow storm is expected,  or a major drop in temperature.

That isn't quite the same though!

P.S.  that avatar you like is a "weatherpixie"  think you can google it.

Thx Trudy! Yes, all the preparation and waiting isn't easy. The waiting out period is the hardest.

Good news, it blew over and so we're in the clear! Yeah!

Were kids that age ever excited about going back to school after an (albiet abrupt and possibly hazardous) holiday? Methinks . . . nope.

It's funny how kids look at things so different. When I was 8 years old my family and I went out of town for the 4th of July. While we were gone the small town we lived in got hit by terrible storms and flooded. When we got back the National Guard was there helping people. They handed out food and water, and we ended up staying with family members in another town. To me, I thought it was the coolest thing seeing all the army trucks, and getting to spend some time with my cousins.
I was such a fool. Thankfully our house wasn't damage.

No, not a fool, you were just being a normal child; nothing wrong with that. Good thing the house wasn't damaged.

Now ole Ernie is headed here, and we are just hoping it is not another Gastone! Seems you took a lot of its punch out of it, but it is regaining it fast now. If you see gurgling coming from our direction tomorrow, you know we are treading water!
