Over the weekend, we had a mini drama event here. It seems last Friday a 21 year old WOMAN, disappeared. She worked at one of those strip mall centers and the security cameras showed her "appearingly willingly" getting into another car, and she was not seen by family or friends after that. Until Today. When they IDed her body. Another tragic story in a city full of them.

But this one caught the attention of the local talking Richard - err excuse me, Cranium. He spent 2 hours on it yesterday (and I was actually skewering him a new one when a storm dumped my article into the bit bucket in the sky), and I wanted to wring his worthless neck!

Why? because the security films appear to show her going willingly with someone! SO WHAT! I go with a friend, does that mean I deserve to die? No! Whatever happened, whether it was for a friend that her parents did not want her to see, or a hooker date, or just partying, whatever! SHE DID NOT DESERVE TO DIE!

And I totally fail to understand why willingly getting into a car constitutes a death sentence! Yet the local Richard Cranium of a talk show host has decided that "YEP! She put herself at risk!". I guess living in this city, by his stupid definition, is worthy of a death sentence.

This is the same clown that decided it would be funny to play Hitler's voice for Pope Benedict XVI right after his election. He calls that satire.

I call him a stupid sick richard cranium.

Thank you for this!

people,  whether female or male,  don't deserve to die just because they get into a car!

No, they do not.  And it is irrelevant whether they knew the perp or not (most actually do).  But this Dick Head (translation of Richard Cranium for the slow ones) Decided it was HER fault!  I wish they would fire him and bring back Michael Graham!

I did not want to give the article an Adult rating.  And Trudy's response gave me an out to explain it for those who probably thought I was stating his name.

I'll bet he's the same guy that tells people not to even consider resisting an attacker.
Another example of a journalist guessing - instead of reporting the facts.

I PGed my language in the article to prevent it from getting the adult content warning.

I dont know as I try not to listen to him.  He really is a sad excuse for a talk show host.  But his motto is if you are not inflamed, he is not doing his job.  So I guess he is the Howard Stern of talk.

I think that's horrible that this 'journalist' is saying stuff like that. You're right, her getting in a car willingly doesn't give others an excuse to say she caused this on herself. Who knows what kind of pressure or influence made her seemingly go into the car? That dick head is irresponsible and SHOULD be quartered!

Exactly!   His statement was akin to "she caused the rape because of what she wore".  I thought that idiocy had died out among sane people long ago.

I don't think that you can call talk show hosts journalists, or even 'journalists'. I think that most talk-show hosts should get a more appropriate name - 'hack'.

People will always be looking for a reason to shift somebody's blame onto somebody else. If we can demonize the girl because she does something we may not agree with, why not?

Why not?  Because we dont agree with many people and what they do, but that does not mean we wish them harm (And I understand it was more a statement of their mind set than a belief of yours).

Women especially are always told to look after themselves, and conduct themselves in a safe manner.  Which we do, as we want to stay safe.  However some Dicks seem to think when we act in a certain way, we bring the consequences ourselves.  Maybe in some cases.  There is no excuse for someone hurting us, or even worse killing us.  We are just making excuses for the low life losers that commit these crimes.  They are in the wrong, no one else.

Hmmm, putting yourself in the public eye as a talk show host or other local celebrity puts you at risk. He deserves to die. Kill him.

And this is the vehicle I am going to use it to slam him again!  A break in the case, apparently a 37 year old man committed suicide about the same time as the body was found.  And he owns the right kind of car.  And they are fairly certain he is the perp.

And the talking dick head? 'Why would a 21 year old girl get into the car with a 37 year old man?"  I cant believe what I am hearing right now.  He is a waste of fresh air!

The talk show dick is obviously trying to stir things up. There can be good talk show hosts who can be controversial, but they have a real point behing their madness. You then have idiot hosts that try to be the same way but think just being controversial IS the point. So by missing the point they have no point and just come off sounding like they are - stupid.

Blaming the victim is part of our society. It starts off when were young and just keeps on the rest of our lives. Here are some conversations I heard recently. A young boy at a pizza place comes and tells his mom, "Mom, that kid over there keeps hitting me." The mom says, "Well, why did he hit you? You must've said something to him he wouldn't just hit you".

A friend of mine had his plates stolen from his SUV, and his mother said, "That's what you get for parking there."

At a pool hall a guy got his truck stolen. People were saying, "Why did you park there?" "I told you you were asking for trouble by having nice rims" "It's your fault for not having an alarm"

Like anyone wants to hear any of that.

Even though the talk show host was a complete dick about everything I, too, would have asked why she willingly got in the car with what turned out to be a killer. Not because I'm blaming her in any way, but because of the tragedy of it all.

Not many "killers" walk around with a tattoo on their forehead identifying them as such.  This one had never done anything like it before, and from the reports we have been getting, was a quiet unassuming guy that you could pass on the street and not think twice about.  And before she died, the man was not a killer, as this was his first and only victim.
