Sons of Thunder.
Nope, Nope, Nope. Christ was crucified on the the 14th day of Nisan, which was on a Wednesday, for it was the preparation day for Passover, which began on the 14th day of Nisan, and they were in a hurry to carry out the crucifixion before Passover. Christ himself said that He would be in the tomb 3 days and 3 nights just as Jonah was in the belly of the great fish. Days were 24 hours long, but were reckoned from sunset to sunset.
Thus from sunset Wednesday to sunset Thursday was the first day, sunset Thursday to sunset Friday was the second day , sunset Friday to sunset Saturday was the third day, and sometime after sunset on Saturday is when Christ arose from the tomb. Christ was placed on the Cross sometime Wednesday afternoon , and placed in the tomb before that sunset.
The four gospels agree in stating that the Lord was laid in the Sepulchre on Preparation Day, which was the 14th day of Nisan, immediately before "the High Sabbath" , the 15th day of Nisan (Matt 27:62 - Mark 15:42 - Luke 23:54 - John 19:31&42). Therefore Christ would have had to have been crucified on Wednesday, the 14th day of Nisan.
Christ became our Passover with His blood replacing the blood of the lamb upon the doorpost, and since He replaced Passover it had to coincide with the actual date.
Orthodox Jews of today observe their sabbath from sunset Friday to sunset Saturday........a full 24 hours.
The Hebrew hours of a day are two sets of twelve hours each, which leads many to confusion trying to compare our days which start at midnight, and go on until the next midnight, while the Hebrew day was from 7pm to 7pm.
Easter and Good Friday are inventions of ecclesiastical orders from the past and are not found in the Bible. Some Bibles have the word "Easter" and other have Passover. Paul wrote in the Greek language and the word he originally used in the book of Acts 12:4 was Pascha, which is Greek for Passover.
The word Easter which has its roots deeply entrenched in pagan religions and is traced to its original source as a heathen term derived from the Saxon goddess Eastre, the same as Astarte, the Syrian venus, called Ashtoreth , goddess of Baal in the Old Testament. How , when, why or who replaced the word Passover with Easter is no doubt working for Satan, for the term Easter should never be used in connection with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
I never learned any of these facts in church , which is just one of the many reasons I do not attend one any longer.
I have explained that I am interested only in fact and accuracy as applies to God's word and "Easter" is in the dogma category, which is simply established opinion. People hear something enough times and it becomes truth to them and they go along with the crowd and they never question the things they should as if to say " Well I heard it in church , so it must be true" I will end with this quote from Jesus Christ Himself: "My people worship me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me, they teach as doctrine the traditions of men"
Man Oh Man, aint that the truth!
