How can I download the German version?

You can't select your Language in Stardock Central?!

Hi! Does anyone know where/how I can download the German version of GalCiv2?
I heard that it is not "so good" but I want to test it because it's my native language. I would prefer the German version if the translation is not as bad as in Oblivion where the lesser healing spell is called fireball.


btw: Are savegames compatible? (Normal, Metaverse, Campaign)

You cannot, AFAIK. Paradox Interactive is the publisher for Europe and they have made the translation, I don't think the translated versions are available through Stardock.

did you try changing you regional setting to german? then you should download the german version. you will need to do this anyway as the game itself also selects its language depending on your regional setting. if this doesnt help i dont know.

What regional settings do you mean? My Windows is German if you mean that. I use German Keyboard and everyting else in german. I did not see any language Options in the game.

The game detects the language to use based on a registry key value.

Do you know which one? And if I change it I can patch it to the german version? (can I keep savegames and ship designs?)

Would be nice to add an option in the game or Stardock Central for the different languages.

The regsitry key entitled language. But you should probably use the official patch from the web site to install the correct files.
