COMPLETE XP REINSTALL LOOMING.....

General Advice needed . . .

HI GUYS and Gals !!

First of all , I want to say that the New-Look Forums are Great !!

~  Very Shortly, I will be doing a complete PC makeover : I am going to do Reformat/Reinstall of XP,and I would like a couple of hints/suggestions on painlessly reinstalling all of my Object Desktop..I use the Full, and Paid for , Object Desktop ,and I have a LOT of skins and themes, Cursor Xp and IconPackager which I would really not like to lose....

So what is the best way to go about this ?

Archiving through Stardock Central. At least that's what I did when I reinstalled XP. It allows you to archive the program version and the skins. Some skins I just re-downloaded though.

Mike,

I wrote a mini tutorial here WWW Link which may help you find the files you need.

I have done the clean install more times than I care to remember, and would suggest that you simply save the skin/theme folders to either an external disk, or to CD/DVD. This will allow you to do your clean install of the OS, hardware drivers, and programs normally.

Once Object Desktop is installed, you can simply copy the saved files to the proper sub-directory (folder) in the various Object Desktop program's folder and your done.

Good luck Mike. I just did mine. Another suggestion is to make sure you have a copy of all your license keys for any non stardock progs you have installed like anti virus, firewall ect. Having everything backed up to an external hard drive is wonderful!
