Alliances and AI

I think the AI is just lacking in that department. And if you form an alliance with AI they never brake it no matter what. Expect improvement in DA expansion.

I've seen the ai make alliances, although the game is extremly long if they do.

The AI definitely made alliances in my current game.

The alterians attacked the Terrans, however they are both my allies so nothing happened there. After a few turns and the Terrans are weakened, the Iconians (allies of the Alterians but not me) declare war on the Terrans. I honor my alliance and attack the Iconians. Then the Korx and Torains honor thier alliance with the Iconians and attack me, which causes the Drath (also my ally) to attack the Korx and the Torains, which causes the Alterians to attack the Drath.

I probably forgot a war or two, but needless to say, a galaxy wide war happened that I was completely unprepared for as I had fallen behind militarily and was researching military techs but had not updated my ships or produced any for quite some time. Luckily I had high diplomacy and got everyone but the Iconians off my back, but it was still very close. In that one turn, the game got VERY interesting.
