A little help?

I purchased the European collectors edition of the game not long ago and have updated it recently using the patching process. However, the game asks for a serial number, and does not accept the only number that is given inside the box, clamimng it is for 'limited edition content only'.
can anyone shed some light on where the other code would be, or what to do?

Not sure about the EU version, but the USA version has two numbers, one for the collectors edition (obsolete now) and the other for the game. The one you use is on the CD jewel case. Disregard the collectors edition number when the online registration asks for it. The 1.2 update automatically enables it. Also, there are some issues using non-english settings in Windows. Set your language to english. I believe language issues will be resolved in the upcoming 1.3 update. If you are still having problems, delete the sig.bin file and re-activate the game.

unfortunately, the only number given anywhere in the box is the Collectors edition code. Are there any mentions of this problem previously on the site? I couldn't find any but I may have been looking in the wrong places.

There was a problem where boxed versions of the game had missing/incorrect serial numbers. Sounds like you were one of the unlucky ones. You can email Stardock and they'll send you one. See the sticky thread regarding registration and activation problems.
