Offering to buy out a race

This might have been mentioned before. However! You know the screen that comes up when a race is just about to be beaten, and they say something like, "We're beaten the universe doesb't want our type of civilisation. We've given our worlds to the Drengin because they have given us the best offer".

I would like to know what the other races have offered, and be able to make my own offer. Just maybe I could aquire some planets and starbases etc if I can offer more than what they others are supposed to have offered.

I just think this would be a cooll edition to the game.

What do others think?

They don't make any offers at all. It's just flavour text.

Fair enough.

But woudn't it be cool if this bidding for an almost defunct race could be added to the game. I have no idea how hard it would be to script or add but it would make an interesting aspect to the game. Maybe a new option for Avatar?

What would you offer them? Cash? Techs? That will be of no use to them after their race is absorbed by you. They should surrender to the race that would treat their people well and can defend them but you can't express that in a trade.

You don't get their starbases if they surrender to you, they are destoryed. You should get their starbases and more as discussed in this thread The Fortunes of War.

You are right!

I don't see why the race their surrendering to should not get their starbases remaining techs etc. So the question is. Is their surrendering to you arbitrary or random or is their something coded into the game that makes a race surrender to another race. And if their is, can we know about it; (i.e. exactly what it is) so we can increase our chances of having a race surrender to us.

When a race surrendures or gets destroyed, what happens to the people on their transports? do they just committe suicide?

All their ships simply go *poof*, even transports and their passengers.

Whatever makes a race surrender to another needs to be thought out a bit more. I was recently playing Custom Race, neutral, with Torians as allies. Evil Korx and Drengins were attacking Torians and me, until Torians suddenly surrendered to . . . the Korx! What? A good/neutral race surrenders to an evil race, ignoring their neutral allies (who were just as strong as Korx at the time)? This is only one example. I've had other weird surrenders like that pop up. Often, though, it does make sense. Seems whenever the Thalans appear in my universe, they'll be my allies and surrender to me.

That's pretty much what happened when Scotland "surrendered" to England in 1715.

I've always thought it would be cool if the surviving ships became pirates or a band of mercenaries available to hire.

Or a "Rag-Tag Fugitive Fleet?"

It's perfectly normal to surrender to the race that is attacking you (e.g. WWII, Germany vs. France and GB). If the Korx weren't at war with them, THEN that would be wierd.
