Camtasia Video Capture doesn't work with WB

borders, etc not captured

I create a lot of video tutorials with Camtasia Studio. Camtasia Studio does not record borders, etc only the menus and client area of a window. Is this because of DirectX? Is there anything I can change? I have to go to a normal Visual Style before doing any recording?

Let me rephrase, Camtasia Studio is not able to record borders, etc when using a Window Blinds theme. It only records the Window client area.

It sounds like Camtasia is not fully 2000/XP compatible and is unable to capture per pixel alpha.  This will be due to a missing flag on their BitBlt calls.  It probably also misses any DX objects which are not on the desktop layer and ObjectDock.

I am sorry to say it is a problem that they will have to resolve as it is not a problem with WB itself.  You can disable WBs per pixel frame support if you want before making a recording.

You have? Maybe you have the per pixel setting turned off like Neil suggested. I've tried these themes aerial, Royal Vista and a few vista themes and only the client/menu area is captured.

Who came up with "per pixel", why not just call it alpha blending? Is there a difference? It's a horrible name.

We call it per pixel because there are 2 types of alpha blending.  Per pixel and constant.

I'm using camtasia on a regular basis too. and I had the same problem too. I recognized that only Vista Plus v2 by adni18 skin( between other skins in my library ) works fine with Camtasia. And i didn't know that not using per-pixel would solve the problem. But I'd like to know what does per-pixel doing when using it ? I mean, what's the difference between using WB with and without per-pixel ?

I'm using the current version of Camtasia (4), and I don't see this problem anymore.  You do need to make sure that the "capture layered windows" is checked, and you have the latest updates to Camtasia.

But I heard Camtasia 4 doesn't support 1frame/sec .. And I'm looking for this option. I think it's ok using it with no per-pixel ..
