We Freed Iraq So They Could Burn Our Flag and Pray For Our Death

What's wrong with this picture?

The morning news brought a story of a huge Shite demonstration against the United States and Israel. Burning American and Israeli flags our friends prayed for our death. Yeppers, we did good over there.

Be well.

Well you did 'free' them. It's hardly surprising that they're using that freedom to say the things they've always wanted to say.

No, we freed them so they'd have the choice to do that, or to eventually do something else. They were burning our flag and cursing us before with a gun to their head. Now there's a chance, however slim, that they might eventually change their minds and be able to freely express themselves otherwise.

Democracy is ability to change, not mandatory change. Evidently the same people who laud liberty feel that it is better for people to be forced to hate us, than freely decide to. Much better for them to be starving under sanctions and being killed or tortured for trying to freely express themselves, I guess.

As long as they don't actually commit violence against someone they have every right to demonstrate and speak their minds. It's called freedom.

If the choice is between their freedom or my security, I'm taking my security. That's why Jordan and Egypt are not at war with Israel...their security forces are strong enough and competent enough to supress he rabid Jew-hating sentiments of the civilians. If we brought freedom to those countries, soon we'd be bringing war on two more fronts to Israel.

So, I take it, some of you support the right to burn an American flag? How about that. Be well.

The whole flag burning debate is absurd. You do know that the only acceptable way to dispose of a flag is to, guess what, burn it?

While we may not agree with what these people are doing, or even like it, that goes along with freedom. Everyone has a right to voice their views as long as they don't enact violence against others. Last time I checked demonstrating and flag burning cause no physical harm to anyone. I'd rather they demonstrate and burn flags than blow somebody up.

To have sacrificed over 2,500 American lives and spent up to a trillion dollars to achieve what we have in Iraq says VOLUMES about Bush and his policies!

I support the right to speak your mind on any topic, regardless of your views.
I support the right to demonstrate for or against things you feel strongly about so long as you do not physically harm someone, or someone else's property.

I may not agree with what you do or what you say, but that's the beauty of freedom. Freedom isn't "You're free to do only the things I agree with". It's "You're free to do even that which I DON'T agree with"
