Liberal Hypocritical Moment of the Day

...Perhaps even the YEAR!

Yesterday, I pointed out how the liberals had switched positions on the draft over the past 40 years. Today I have a much more disturbing hypocrisy to point out...just food for thought:

Why is it that when Hezbollah rockets rain down on Israel daily and kill Israeli civilians (including babies), liberals demand that Hezbollah fighters are "freedom fighters", and that we should bend over backwards to negotiate with them, yet...

When Mel Gibson launches into a nasty speech about Jews that admittedly deserves rebuke, liberals urge a one man blacklist of Mel Gibson despite the fact that his words, although vomitous, have not injured a single individual?

Mel Gibson's comments, however vitriolic, are free speech. Hezbollah's actions, on the other hand, are MURDER. Why does the murderer get more sympathy than the angry drunk who has, in fact, begged for forgiveness?

Excellent point! I seriously don't get the big hooplah over Gibson anyway. He's an actor! Anyone suggesting that Israel negotiate with Hezbollah has some serious issues. Calling Hezbollah "freedom fighters" only fits if you are from the point of view that "freedom" means freeing the world of the existance of Israel because they are quite open about intending to wipe Israel off the face of the planet. How can anyone defend that stance?

Like it or not, I believe anti-semitism is very alive and well around the world.

Oh I believe it. I just don't understand it.

Liberals hate Mel.  He is an actor, sucessful, and a conservative.  So like Bush, anything he stands for is evil.

He played a fool!  That does not make him a devil.  Except to Howard Dean and company.

I do.  Envy.  Jews have a strong sense of history and heritage.  And thus, they make sure their children understand that.  And make sure they are not hanging on street corners, but suceeding.  Those that would rather hang on street corners and rail about "the man" cannot fathom hard work, either in school or life.  And so they envy those that do.

Have you seen the racism against Asians?  Not as pronounced as it is more recent (their sucesses), but just as nasty.

If Mel had instead been say Susan Sarandon or Tim Robbins the liberals would be falling all over themselves making apologies, but yeah, Mel deserves to be tarred and feathered according to the libs.

I long ago gave up the idea of libs not being hypocrites....

Just curious, who are these 'liberals' on the side of Hesbollah? Not I. As for Mel Gibson, he doesn't get it himself. And, BTW, Ronny Reagon was 'just an actor' as well. Be well.

I wasn't aware that Mel was running for political office.

Umm, Take the DU...PLEASE! Take CNN, take virtually ANY liberal blogger. You may be an exception, Sodaiho, but the vast majority of liberals that are getting serious press ARE supporting Hezbollah...and pretty vocally!

I really don't think people who just want the killing to stop are supporting Hezbollah. They are supporting peace and end to this. How do you end this? Does it go on until they have succeeded in blowing each other off the map? No, at some point to stop the killing you have to negotiate a cease fire. It's all well and good to say you don't negotiate with terrorist but we have and we do. When the terrorist are dropping bombs to get them to stop you have to negotiate or bomb them into oblivion.

I would like to see a credited quote from a mainsteam liberal or credible media source that states we support Hezbollah, their objectives, their means, etc. I don't think you can find it. Prove me wrong. I have checked both the home pages of the democratic underground and the progressive and neither states anywhere that they support hezbollah. There is an article by a Jew who is ashamed of Qana. There are articles criticizing Israel but I see nothing that says we, liberals, support hezbollah.

Hey Jill, It seemed to me you were using Gibson's status as an actor to diminish his influence, yet as can see from that other actor who played a president for real, an actor's influence should not be underestimated.
Be well.

I couldn't agree more! F'n liberals!
Remember that whole Dixie Chix thing? How about the others?
I'm rich and lazy...so I don't want to point it all out! It's too hard to type and it messes with my fresh manicure.
Republican's ROCK! Dem's are like some sick puppy begging for scraps!
Gideon, you are da man, man!
I mean...yeah, Mel trashed an entire culture, where as the Dixie Chix trashed one person (our dictator), but
whatever!
Free speech goes NO further than the allowance of the speech you wish NOT to hear.
Mel Gibson is a anti-semitic fuck head! How is he better than Hezbollah? Tell me Mr. Patriotic?
He blames....they blame.....you accept!
Good 4 U!

THEGUYPC - LOUD AND PROUD!!!!

In this country "liberals" ARE indeed hypocrites, fools even. like that idiot Howard Dean calling
the Iraqi Prime Minister an "anti-semite" because he JUSTLY criticized Israels "false flag" operation
and war of choice against Lebanon.

I laughed at Mel Gibsons apology ... he is a coward, through and through.
Dont hide behind the "alcohol" ... drinks dont put ideas in your head, they just open up your lips.
Your thoughts about people/places were always there

Anyone taking issue with Gibson has his own problems. I may or maynot agree with Gibson, but thats
hardly the point ... the point is he has a right to say whatever he wants and to deal with the
consequences (blacklisted out of hollywood as he surely will be ... perhaps proving there is some truth
to the rumor that control of hollywood is in the hands of ........)

But I digress

I am not a liberal. I am or have always been a fan of Mel Gibson. Always liked his movies. But I haveta say, I think there is an issue here with him when it comes to the Jews. I applaud his apology and all but I have to think he didn't just say that off the top of his head. Out of the mouth speaks the heart, so I have to believe the alcohol had some play in exposing his heart.

I hope he gets help not only for the alcohol problem but also his hidden hatred (not so anymore) for the Jews.

???????

You must be smoking some serious weed to think I'm a Republican, Guy! Does it ever occur to you that there is more on the political landscape than Republican and Democrat?

Do I agree with what happened to the Dixie Chicks? No, I don't buy their albums because, well, I didn't buy their albums before, and I'm not about to pay $17 for a coaster. Nothing against the Dixie Chicks, they're just not my brand of music, and what they said doesn't make me want to rush out and buy their CD.

What about you, theguyPC? How many Dixie Chicks albums do you own? Are you buying their music out of solidarity, or are you just talking out your rear end again, a talent you seem to have a particular aptitude for?

You get a trolling rating, your response deleted, and an automatic passage to my blacklist for a completely offtopic attempt to sell your book (by the way, how's that going? The latest look at the NY Times bestseller list seems to have a typo; your book doesn't appear!)
