No System Tray for any applications!

Won't work for Object Dock or ObjectBar!

I _HATE_ the Windows taskbar, and so I do what I can to get rid of it. I've got ObjectDock and ObjectBar both running, set up like a Mac.

But I'm having problems with the system tray. I can't get it to show up on either of these programs. It's configured how it worked before. In fact it was working on ObjectDock right up to a reboot, then it wouldn't load. I of course tried deleting, recreating, then gave up and decided to put it in ObjectBar instead, only to find out that it wouldn't work there either Help!

Thanks!

Hello Luminerd,

I will let Technical support aware of your problem, and they will get back with you shortly.

: The System Tray functionality for both of these applications requires SDMCP.exe. If this isn't currently in your running processes, that would explain why you're not getting this functionality.

Please run this to install the MCP Server: http://sd.stardock.com/mcp_102.exe

If you're still having the problem, what is your OS (including service packs)?

I had this problem long ago and I kept the directions to fix it in case I forgot again.Wizop Koasati helped me out long ago - hope this is what you need.

This is definitely an MCP problem.... look in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Stardock .... place sdmcp.exe in your startup folder. (you can double click the file to start it, without a reboot, and your systray should work.)

sdmcp.exe

If you need to go a step further

Windows hides file extensions by default, never made any sense to me to do that, but that's MS for you. Go to Tools > Folder Options > View tab...... un-tick "Hide extensions for known file types" > OK.

Open C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
Add a shortcut to sdmcp.exe there.
