Davey:  I'd like the dog to get potty trained and not pee on the floor so's I wouldn't have to clean it up.  I'm just spitballin' here, but i think....

Me: you're what?

Davey: Spitballin'.

Dave: what's spitballin? 

Davey: you know, where you sit around and come up with ideas...

Dave: you mean 'brainstorming'....

You haven't heard that phrase before? He doesn't seem to have it exactly right, but he's close. Kind of throwing ideas out there as ineffective verbal attacks (which is kinda what he did, I guess, he just didn't really want to hurt your feelings or anything).

Okay, a deeper search shows his usage to be 100% correct.
