Multi Users

I just purchased Object Desktop and have been downloading all the app's that come with it. I downloaded Windowblinds 5 [beta] through Stardock Central and that is how I am downloading and installing all the software.

I have two user accounts on my Windows XP system(both administrators) but only the account that originally installed Stardock can use Windowblinds. When I try to run windowblinds on the other user it keeps asking me for a Serial # to activate it.

I thought I had seen a post saying something about Windowblinds 5 not supporting multi users. Is there a way to work around this or would it be easier to uninstall 5[beta] and reinstall Windowblinds 4.5??

try opening SDC in the other account and entering your serial(s)

I never had a problem with it before, but when I had to reinstall it after a format it just wouldn't work on my other user account. It kept giving me an "insufficient permissions" error or something. What I did was copy my Stardock folder into the shared documents folder and ran it from there. :\

The only one I ran into a problem with on reformat was CursorXP. Wouldn't run on my wife's side. So I uninstalled it, then reinstalled on her side and it works for both of us.

The users permissions text in the WB folder say it supposed to work even for limited users.

It sounds like WB is unable to read from the WB directory.  You need to alter the permissions on the folder (and all sub folders & files) to permit your other user to have read and write access.

Thanks for all the support guys. Not exactly a techno guy so some of the stuff was a little beyond me (changing permissions). It turns out that WB 5[beta] isn't multi user friendly, so I just uninstalled it and installed WB 4 and everything works great now.

Not true. I've had no issues (release or beta) with multiusers, going on 3 yrs.

WB is Neil's baby. If he says it sounds like you need to alter permissions, then it sounds like you need to alter permissions.

If you do a forum search for "users", "multiple users", etc., you find other posts that also mention permissions. Sometimes it's as easy as turning on/off (I forget which) the simple file sharing.

The permission text in the WB folder tells you what it runs from the folder so it will allow all users (admin or limited) to access WB.
