Skin looks fine except tab bar in MS Word

How can I change a skin to ensure that tab markers are visible

One problem that I have been unable to solve is how to make the tab markers in MS Word show up in some skins they appear as grey, they show on the tab bar but not on the tab selector button. In some cases the tab markers are invisible. How can I either edit the skin to change the tab marker colour or stop the tab markers from being skinned?
