Newbie question about designing ships...

I need some help. Is there a way that I can design a ship, let's say I decide to design a new and improved scout ship, how do I save that ship for use in each and every game that I start? Is there a way that I can add my ship designs to the "core" ship section?

TIA, Zephyr

It saves your ship designs between games. If you make a ship, all future games where you play a race with that same hull type will make your new ship appear
under the User tab, so you don't have to repeatedly redo it.

if you wanna add on to it just hit upgrade. by the way there should be something on this under databanks or somewhere or another. A good trick for saving the looks of a ship and not components for future games is to just build a ship with extra components on it then save and upgrade it later. Upgrading doesnt changes the original design. And you wont be able to build ships from previous games until you unlock the techs. I hardly ever reuse ships because I never take the same tech route

One thing that's kind of consfusing for new players, previously designed ships don't display until you have the techs you built them with. Leads you to believe the game didn't same them, but they are there. They show up when they qualify.

Personally, I flush my ships every game. It really doesn't save any work for me to use old ones so I'd rather just start clean. The definition files are in;

I agree with delta leader's point about each game needs it's own ship designs.
To Citizen Zephr99 : With each game as you design more and more ships, they
will not only be better performance wise, but will look cooler and cooler !!!

Because as you be come more efficient in adding weapons and defense, you will
get a knack for adding the "extras", which make ship designs so unique.

And as GraigHB said in post#4

I go to the location he identified and DELETE all my old ship types ....
...and start over with a clean slate, because I learned how to make much
better ships for my next game ...

Thanks ya'll. With your help I found out where I went wrong; I did exactly what you said Craig, I was using hulls that had been researched. Well, like I was always told, "Nobody was born knowing".

I do have another question though, Ya'll don't even have a personal ver. of the basics (Colony, Constructor and scout)?

Thanks again.
