Multiple Serials Keys not working

Website won't recognize my key

Here is my story... I played a friend's copy of GalCiv2 and loved it. I bought a CE copy of the game in order to obtain a serial and get access to all of the goodies on the website. Unfortunately, the keys I received with the game didn't work on the website. Errors 4 and 12. After much frustration, I returned the game to the retailer in exchange for another copy with new keys. New keys, exact same problem. If anyone can help, please do. I'm dying to actually use the keys I bought the game for...

Try firing an email off to [email protected] Include all the relevant details and they should be able to assist you.
Alternatively go to the GCII IRC channel '#galciv' and speak to a good man there called Milksama (on there most days). If anyone can assist you he can!

Already shot a letter to Stardock. Was just hoping someone else could help in the meantime, since it'll be monday at the earliest before I will get a response.

Got a response from CS. Their email said:

"There are two forms of serial numbers:

1. Standard serial number consists of 28 alphanumeric digits no dashes or other symbols present. This is used to register and activate the game. Once this is registered, it is tied to the email address that was used forever.

2. Collector's edition serial number consists of groupings of alphanumeric digits separated by a '-'. This serial number starts with 'GC2'. This serial number is used to grant you access to download the additional content off http://galciv2.com/collectorsedition"

Now, it strikes me as strange that they specified only the CE number starts with "GC2", since both of the numbers in my copy of the game start with "GC2". Also, my serial number has 29 alphanumeric digits. I'm tempted to just return the game for a refund and buy the game here at the website. If I get the same issue after CUTTING AND PASTING THE KEYS FROM THE ORDER CONFIRMATION E-MAIL, then I'll KNOW I've got something to be angry about...

tiberseptim, did you buy GalCiv2 outside of the US? If so, I seem to recall that there was a problem with serials in one of the foreign versions.

Also, was that just the auto-response e-mail, or did one of the techs respond?

Nah, I finally got ahold of milksama. He worked the whole thing out with me. Turned out I was given two CE keys and no serial. Sounded like it could be a more pervasive problem, too. At least at our local Wal-mart. If you buy the game and have two serial keys that start with GC2-..., then you're probably having the same problem as me. Only Stardock can help.
