I've noticed a change in Little Whip's posts since she returned from her self imposed exile from JU. In the past I rarely posted a reply to her articles nor did I normally respond to her replies in other articles. Why? Because I felt that she was unnecessarily harsh, cruel, mean, or vulgar in her posts.
I never reflected on possible reasons for this, I just assumed she was either a disgustingly crude person or she was maintaining some internet persona. Either way I had little use for interaction with her.
That said, I have noticed that since her return her posts have been for the most part intelligent, thoughtful, and often even kind and empathetic. This is not to say that she doesn't still clash with some other JUers; she does. But she presents herself in a much more civilized and, in my opinion, intelligent manner. I, for one, appreciate this to no end.
I have always held to the idea that a truly intelligent person can express their ideas and engage in a healthy debate without resulting to crude, vulgar, or hateful remarks to express their point of view and have never held people who engage in these tactics in very high regard. I have always felt that people who result to hateful language have little else upon which to draw.
I feely admit that in the past I held a distaste for LW and would often pass up otherwise intriguing article titles simply because she was the author of said titles. This has changed since her return. While I did not partake in the LW bash fest that ensued upon her departure I was actually glad to learn that she had departed. That was one less hateful person on JU. I also admit that when I saw her first post upon her return I said to myself "What the hell is she doing back here?"
I am now glad that she has returned. Her demeanor and contributions since she has returned have been exemplary. Her posts, while not always "friendly" to some, have been intelligently written and devoid of the hateful vitriol that I found so distateful in the past. For this reason I am glad to see LW back at JU and speaking her mind in a more effective and meaningful manner. She still displays her cutting wit and derisive attitude, but she does so now in a much more easliy received and acceptable manner.
I truly never thought I would ever type these words. Welcome back Little Whip.
