How do I access the combat view screen in battles?

Whenever i watch the space battles i view them on the strategy map yet i am told there is a combat view screen where you can watch the fights in 3d but i can't find it and the manual doesn't help...where is it and how do i view it?

Go to the Options screen and go to the Interface tab. There you'll see a section for "Battle Options"
The battle length option determines the type of battle played for one on one battles. Change this to "Full Battles" to view them in the viewer.
For battles involving fleets, check the "Full fleet battles" option to watch them in the viewer.

You can try different combinations of the options to get the viewer to come up when you like it.

If you want to watch every battle in the viewer, you can use these settings:
Battle Length: Full Battles
Full Fleet Battles: Checked
Show Full Fleet Battles Only if BOTH sides are fleets: Unchecked
