Third Scenario: first encounter with the dreadlords

Hi,

I'm new to GalCivII. I've started playing the campaign and got to the third scenario, the first encounter with
the Dread Lords. I've been getting hammered!! They're all up in your face so fast...

Anyway, I'm looking for hints and or links to hints. Any help would be appreciated

Any helpful advice against the dreadlords would be appreciated. Right now, set at normal level, they just trash me once they find me.

Get to them fast before they can build up. If you are new to the game, there is so much to cover. Tech choices, sliders, building choices, what a player rush builds all have an impact on how quickly a player can get military tranports to the Dreadlord's system. Get there early and the scenario can be a cakewalk. However, if you are new to the game, and new to this genre of games, it may take a while to get that efficient at the game.

Think about the goal, getting a stack of military ships plus transports to the enemy system early and what choices might lead you to that goal. It may take a lot of experimenting with your early game moves.

Get used to winning on intelligent at sandbox. It helps if your allies can do something to help, because the DL are so powerful that their AI doesn't mean jack. Idiotic decisions or not, those ships are STILL infinitely more powerful than you. But in brief:

Soldiering is your friend. Max soldiering, and they can't conquer you.
Fleets are good. A fleet with roughly 8 more attack than the HP of the ship you're attacking will win. Just keep using fleets.
Strike fast, and don't let them capture planets. If they get logistics techs, you're done for.

That should help, while I find the link to a long, detailed strategy for the DL that was written somewhere.
