How can you make it so you do not see icons on you desktop without making it so other users cant see their icons aswell...and how can I do this without instaling desktop x or other icon related program...

Right-click on the desktop, Arrange Icons By, uncheck "Show Desktop Icons". Does that work?

You can hide the default desktop icons in Windows XP with TweakUI from Microsoft. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx If you want to hide shortcuts/folders you have created yourself, you probably will have to use some software to do that. A free program called Icondesk to do the job is available here http://byukruk.tripod.com/ . Using this program will let you keep the standard right-click menu, which a lot of other programs won't. Hope this answers yor question.
