Noob question

I'm sorry for such a noobish question but I looked in the manual and in the wiki.

How do you declare war? Without making your declaration of war a trade agreement with another civilization, I can't figure you how to do it.

Attack a ship or starbase, or invade a planet. That'll declare war.

With your guns, of course! There's no way to tell another faction beforehand that you're at war with them. The first time you attack one of their spacecraft or invade one of their planets, they will get the message.

Or if you wanted to go to war without having to attack an enemy ship you could just go to another civ's negociation screen and go to attack... whatever civ.
