Ship componeants suggestion.

Their should be more special ability devices on this game. As of now its all utility devices simular to how unit design was used on SMAC. Like trade modules, colony modules, and things like that. What I want to see is something, for example, that i could use to maybe have a small chance of taking enemy ships? Or if you attack freighters you can get some money? For example if you leave a ship on a trade route with this specific modules you get a certain percentage of the trade income. Also what about missiles? Like one use weapons that can be used to attack planets or starbases, basically stationary objects. Or it could maybe even be used to attack ships in like a kamikaze sort of war.

Just a few ideas that were floating around my head. I would say include something like a "cloak" as well but I know that would be INCREDIBLY annoying in a game like this. That was good in MOO when their were only certain ways you could be attacked from, or for tactical battles. Which is something else I wish the game had. Their could be any number of ideas along this line that could be added to the game. Maybe even an HQ ship that gives combat bonuses?

stardock has said the cloak likkely wont happen at least not anytime soon, perhaps in an expansion, and the taking of ships wont happen either it jsut doesnt mesh right with the current system of combat and that wont be changing so its likely a no. and in galciv 1 i remember a mod someone made that was a tactical missle, it was actually a ship but you sent it to starbases or to intercept ships, and it would blow up when it reached them

They had it in SMAC, which is almost exactly the same as this game. Spy units could "bribe" things or their was units with pirate modules in the sea that had a chance to capture a unit instead of killing it. It would work.
