I just don't see why not. If you don't like the content then you don't have to download it. You don't even have to browse it. I just like to have the option. You don't like what they look like? Well, then improve it? Isnt' that what skkinning has been all about?

Options are always good. I do not believe any one should be excluded. I do believe, as I said, that you should wait a while. Maybe after a couple of weeks start a poll and see if there is enough interest.

I say Stardock should probably focus more on promoting their own gadgets and widgets. DesktopX (in my opinion) is under-pimped. Other companies sure dont help Stardock promote DX, so I think its unwise to give them site real-estate in this instance. I just dont see either of them to be hugely popular, and I doubt there would be enough support for a full section for each.

Frogboy's stance has always been that "a high tide lifts every boat"....in other words 'promoting' others' widgets would popularize ALL widgets and thus Stardock's would benefit.

For me, I am less than enthused with Google as an entity and can't help thinking even the promotion of TGTSoft's 'stuff' would be better...

I agree with "Wizop Island Dog" Stardock does have the best product and we should promote it as much as we can.
Everyone else is trying to catch up with Stardock now!

The trick is to have the users of Google widgets see, try and prefer Stardock's superior products. With the extensive reach Google has, many pc users will have a first taste of OS Customization in any form and drawing them to Stardock would certainly be an cost effective way to grow the customer base. Certainly many that visited to seek additional gadgets would be attracted to and try some of the other products. Frogboy's "high tide lifts every boat" is correct.

I really have to agree again with promoting what is already here. DesktopX can do what all the others can AND more. It's the 'more' that really makes it unique and outstanding in this area.

Perhaps a contest geared just toward creating a widget or object and hit these other sites with the info for it like we list contests that other sites are having. Break it into categories (meters, weather, radio, etc) and perhaps make a DesktopX Theme the big one.
