Will there be a future map editor?

Would love to be able to place all my races far away from each other instead of having the random map generator throw them all in a big clump!

What I want is an editor that lets me create a map and put in events that fire on specific conditions or dates. Basicalyl I want to make a campaign with the idea from Paradox Interactive games that have a "historic" story with choices that have certain ramifications.

yeah i dont think its hard to release such an editor .. they should make it in 1.0 becouse campaing sucks you talk about mods ? how about one that 90% games have - map editor

Thanks for the info! Im looking at the program now. Is there a way to create a random map and then place your races instead of having to create a whole new map?

I want a map editor, and the bloody 'custom map' image replaced with a picture of the map. I've never used most of the provided maps, because I can't be assed loading it just to find out what it looks like.
