Need some help..I don't even know if this is the right forum to post in.

First off, I use Windowblinds, have all the Stardock stuff..but I don't know how to edit any of it..not my thing.

I want to use a Black Start Bar, with a certain Icon as the start button..

Can anyone give me tips, or even help me out?

My MSN is [email protected]

Or reply here..any help is very much appreciated.

Unless someone is willing to do it for you, you'll need to download SkinStudio & learn a bit about skinning. You can't just "use" an icon for the start button - a graphic of specific size & type must be created which represents the various states that the button can display (normal, mouseover, pressed, etc.).

Give it a go - you may find it's more your thing than you think.

I just registered to the website but I can't find where to start a new topic in the forums. So I am posting here, sorry =/ I have used Windows Blinds but I think it takes up so much memory, though I have 512mb ram. Can anyone recommend me a software that is easy to load and use? thanks

I can't find where to start a new topic in the forums.

On any forum page at Wincustomize - check the 'forum options' on the upper left under your name.

how much memory is WB taking up?

I'd say just start looking around the gallery for what you want. It shouldn't be too difficult to find a skin with a black start bar.

My understanding is Windowblinds is allocated to the graphics card rather than the RAM. Unless you don't have a dedicated graphics card. Windowblinds is probably the best program out there for skinning.

looking in processes, the only time I see it using memory is when configure is open

I have Nvidia Geforce FX5600 256MB graphic card. Is it enough? I've waited for half an hour for the skin to be applied after restart. I'm not familiar with these applications, but I think that is a long time to wait. I couldn't even open the Task Manager (ctrl+alt+delete) to look at how much memory it takes. =/

I have NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 with AGP8X that came with my computer and I've never updated the drivers that I know of. System came with Pentium4 2.60Ghz. 512 MB Ram.

Means nada to me - I got no technical knowledge.

Takes about 10-15 secs to change skins. Takes a minute or 2 to load everything at start up.

I'm thinking you got some issues in there.

Once it's up, open WB configuration, click system information on the left and copy/paste that info here.

my guess is one of the following:

1) you somehow ended up with a mixture of very old and some new files
2) you downloaded via a wireless connection while crossing time zones
3) you're either running a cracked version or did not fully uninstall a previous crack

it is cracked

Good grief! Another cracker asking for help.....sheez

any good freeware ones you recommend?

check the Alienware site and the NVIDIA site - I think they still have some free themes which utilized versions of the Stardock softwares. Notice it's softwares not softwarez

good to see people like you, who buy all the softwares, not softwarez. a place for you in heaven...

Thanks, but I've been told I have no soul. All things according to plan though, huh?

So... if you miss that call... don't turn around... it will be time for me to come out of my stump.

oh yeah, if you decide to get the alienware or nvidia or one of the others, you might want to make sure your system if fully cleaned of cracks or they may not work either.

Sue the crack-writer for incompetence.

If and when you find your system has been crippled and/or damaged in some way.... enter a class-action suit for financial restitution from the 12 year old writer of the afore-mentioned crack.

When he claims no assets remember to go after his parents instead.  They will welcome the attention....
