CorkyO's Tutorials

Need a more visible place in the site

I think it would be a great idea if the tutorials written by CorkyO were placed more visibly on the site somewhere, maybe even add them to the libraries. One reason I suggest this is because..."I" know he has written them..."I" know they exist...but trying to find them even knowing that is near impossible, so I can imagine how hard it must be for someone new that has no idea they exist and could really use them. And since they deal directly with the use of some of the products sold here it might be a good idea to make them more visible so people buying these can see them and access them easier. I see them once in awhile posted on the side of the pages but not always.

Perhaps a sticky "Beginner's Tutorials" with links to the articles by Corky O, Cordelia, and many others.

Enough chat, I'm off on a search to find my Wacom

There's enough room for a "Tutorials" tab in OS Customization. Would be nice. Would be nicer if clicking the tab opened another 'main page' like when you click 'Forums'.

I post links to Cordelia, Corky O, & 'Icon A Day' quite a bit now and then.

Thanks, Bichur. Checked at Cordelia's, here, and Icon-a-day. I remember a while back I found a great tutorial Paul had done, with voiceover dialogue every step of the way, walked you right thru it, step by step. "First draw a circle, now add some depth, now add shine, reflection," etc...
I find that again, I think I'm on my way.

I agree about the additional tab(s). Would be nice.

Also had this idea, don't know how practical, or attractive to anyone, when I saw the latest wallpaper, of the gallery, that it would be wild to have a site like a FPS game, with a virtual walk-thru gallery, room to room, artist credits on a plaque, maybe, with info about the work...

And yes...when I posted this I had forgotten that there were others that posted tutorials as well...such RomanDA and the other mentioned above.

But it would be great if the tutorials that these people...who in some cases went to great lengths to create...were listed somewhere that you practically trip over them. I think this would also give people...such as new people browsing the site...a little insight as to how each program works and maybe see that they aren't all that hard to use. And this would be much better than having to hunt through all the forum posts for them.

Yes.

Don't know why I didn't think of a tab at the top to begin with. A tutorial tab that when clicked opens a page with the tutes categorized would be excellent. They should also be listed by natural progression (when possible) and stickied into playc so they don't start jumping around.

I know the people at SD & WC are busy, but here's hoping for a serious consideration of the idea.

I was looking for a tutorial on cursorxp..In that gallery there is a link to the website ( to buy ) then there is a link that says " Tutorials " Not sure if its a tutorial on how to use it or how to make one but either way the link is broken and says " page may have been moved "

So..a tab that was for tutorials would be nice. I just wanted to make a simple cursore for myself but ..I have no idea how to save it to be a cursorxp ext.

I totally missed both Guide links when I went to that page before.
I kept trying to find info on importing/saving in the info below the links.

Downloading now. Thanks for the swift kick in the right direction NT

same info - reading through it, seems something is missing.

Thanks Bichur and nighttrain...I read through it all briefly.Im hoping this is a case of a tutorial looking way more complicated than it is .

What I noticed that was missing is at the end where it simply says " now your done " So I guess i assume if you go look in your cursorxp theme folder then its been saved as a cursorxxp ext.....but it didnt really say.

The other thing was at the end of tutorial it say " additional tools " you need for animated graphics >
AniUtil is a simple utility for skinners to make "animated" PNG or BMP images that are required as source images for Cursor XP skins.

Again the link is broken and says page may have been moved. I guess Stardock needs to update the tutorial.

At least I have a bit of an idea..I really only wanted a non animated cursor. I wanted it to be like island dogs pumpkin 2 cursor ( that has a small detached pointer arrow ) I prefer a cursor with a distinct point.

Thanks again...but I think this may be too much for me yet.
