Can't use windowblind skins downloaded from another site

I'm quite new at this and was succesful at changing the boot and welcome screens; So now I'm trying my hand the 'themes.' Sorry to the guys at wincustomize but the coolest looking windowblinds themes I have seen are from another site (appleblossomart.com I think). I downloaded about 5 themes that says that its activated using windowblinds but when I tried to import them after converting the files I got an error message that says "missing .uis file" what's a .uis file and how to I get it in the files that I have? Thanks to anyone who can help.

I may be wrong, but from memory, and it's not that good, this site only provides Themes, ie. VSstyles, they are not Windowblind themes, therefore you need StyleXP to install these. Jim

yeah they also look like they include some spyware, as you are downloading an executable file. they aren't windowblinds files by any stretch of the imagination.

For the ones that after downloading a few download as a zip, you need SkinStudio installed, go to software tab here if you do not, then extract the zip, find the .msstyle file, double click it and SkinStudio will convert it to a WB skin.
Due to limitations of msstyles they will not be as completely skinned as WB skins that are here.
If you move the .theme file to C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes, it may apply from Themes in Display Properties, I am not willing to test as I do not want to set everything to XP default in order to do so.

I didn't see a single WindowBlinds skin at that site.

This does not work unless you have StyleXP or a msstyles theme patcher installed, as the theme file is a hacked version of the MS one. However, as Cavan suggested, you can convert them in SkinStudio to a WindowBlind.....if you right click on the file and select open with SkinStudio> tick always use this program to open this file type, you only need to download> click on it and you'll be asked if you want to convert it to a WB> click yes and it's automatically done for you.

Also, you need to be careful of some sites hosting msstyles/themes as some of them bundle spyware/adeare/malware with the themes. deviantArt and Belchfire host msstyles and they do not bundle unwanted extras.

ThankS!!! When I was looking at the themes before downlooading them, the text at the botom said: use Style XP or Windowblinds. So since I have windowblinds and not wanting a competing program to cluter up my computer, I down loaded the themes. I'll try your suggestion... and yeah they tried to download adware/syware etc., but my syware programs nipped it before I coud even open the themes! Thanks again! I'll let you know what happens. Have a great weekend!

I download bootskins/icons/logon screens/welcome screens and I can save them and extract them, but after extracting them, I go to apply them and they're not there.

Mr Cherokee27 -

Just to be sure - you do have the corresponding applications installed, correct? BootSkin, LogonStudio & IconPackager?
