Hello,
I am not sure where this request would best be directed, so please pass this on to whomever is most qualified to respond.
I recently purchased Object Dock and I am totally impressed with the features, ease of use and how customizable it is.
I could use the program for the EXACT purpose that I bought it for. (see screen shot attached)
I run event multimedia full time (see attached picture of my video rig) and have long been looking for a program where I could open a grid of thumbnail high resolution video files to select via mouse or touch screen at any given time.
we actually created a simple version of what I want with Multimedia Fusion.
After setting up object dock in a similar way I have decided that on all levels this is a much better option. With multiple tabs, I could have instant access to 300-800 video clips and still be extremely organized without multiple Win Explorer folders open.
There is only one flaw in this particular usage of Object dock for this purpose. It requires a lot of time to setup since Object dock doesn't appear to be setup to capture the first frame of a video file (.avi .wmv .mpg .m2v .mov) into a thumbnail when it is dragged on to the tabs or docks.
My work around was to manually extract jpeg thumbnails using my graphics editing program.
Then I would replace the blank black thumbnails one at a time with the videos corresponding jpeg thumbnail.
Obviously, this amount of pre-show work really inhibits the possibility of any quick changes and additions. But IF I could simply drag and drop an video file from Explorer on to a tab-dock... WOW... that is a seriously beautiful thing.
I have looked all over the net for something like this...this would make object dock not only a cool looking organizational tool, but also an incredible affordable asset to media presenters for live events. The applications for the VJ community are also substantial. (www.vjcentral.com)
I would like to know if what I am looking for is even possible, and if it is, how soon could such an improvement take.
Thank you very much for your time.
