The horror. The horror.

(The quote is from Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness, also used in Apocalypse Now. It sprang to mind immediately upon opening this thread.)

I've always been afraid to post such horrors, but since the door has been opened.....

This is the so called 'Sidebar' that Compaq has come up with and preinstalled on my pc..

Compact version...

and full version...

Maybe if it could be skinned by my wb...but the 'walmart' logo would have to go.

Well no really....I dont install all kinds of weird crap....That is the reason I have never had an virus or spam or adware problem....Other than Windows being scarey.......I have no clue what that 3rd Icon is for...although that pre bundled Compaq Walmart job would tick me off if I had a compy pre installed with that crap....

You all gotta remeber...I dont do none of tyhat toolbar, online chat room IRC stuff...I use a computer for work and bill paying..(sometimes porn)...But other than that I dont install every little cool thing...I was a OD user for over a year before I even messed with anything other than the Icon Packager and WindowBlinds....I tend to not trust companys that say they can improve my computer experience....

Remeber Packard Bell Navigator?

A friend of mine called me over because her new computer was acting "funny".

I saw the navigator and shuddered. Told her that I would be happy to remove it so she could use her OS.

I was supposed to work on her PC and then eat dinner. Needless to say, I didn't eat. I finally gave up and told her I couldn't help her if she wanted to keep the PB propietary stuff.

I dont do none of tyhat toolbar

That type of this was pretty standard between Win3.1 and Win95. The company got some branding, maybe a profit center for tech support. MAYBE a little ease of use for boomers who didn't know how to use their new toys.

Hahahha, funny.....But seriously, I still dont know what the joke is here, other than weird toolbar stuff...Is that 3rd quicklaunch icon for some really bad toolbar? one that cannot be iuninstalled with out a masters degree in code...
Hey Drop, the joke is that it is the default XP Luna taskbar. Remember this is a skinning site.

Ahhhh, Okay...I just kinda pushed that one to the side...I was under the impression that one of those quick launches was supposed to be funny, cuz someone went on and posted the Wal-Mart Toolbar...Okay got it......I know Im slow...But man...Like I had mentioned..Im not really into all the desktop add ons...Ive been bit to many times to know better than to add any free software that says it will improve my online experience..So far the only one has been OD and Sysmetrix...Object Dock was thge last one I used and it caused major performance issues....Slow animation weird hangup issues...I was using it on a PC with a 1.7Ghz P4 and 768 ram...But it still caused issues....I love the whole idea of it though...
