Update your video drivers.

The game requires a 1GB page file. You may have to manually set this as XP may not automatically adjust it that high with that little RAM.

Update the game - v1.0x is much better.

You don't have enough memory.

You need to increase your page file to at least 2 gigabytes.

You can do that by right-clicking on My Computer. GO the the advanced tab. Click on "settings" in the Performance area. Click on the "advanced" tab. Click on "Change" in the virtual memory area. Check on "system managed size". Then press "Set".

You may have to reboot after doing so.

you should also try to update you sound card driver, as that can sometimes cause problems

Yikes 256mb of ram and a ATI rage chip, 2 year old Gfx drivers and 5 year old sound drivers. Thats like Cira 1998-99 stuff.

Updating drivers, increasing the page file to 1gb should help.
Buying a $399 computer from Dell would to in the long run.
