Death of An Old Friend

Ode to My Robe

http://moderateman.joeuser.com/index.asp?AID=89742

The above link is about what is that one peice of clothing you should not wear.

My contribution is a ratty torn green robe falling apart, but oh so soft and comfortable.

Today I purchased a new robe, it will be here in about 10 days, till then I will sit in my green robe and start the grieving process.

Good-by old friend, I hope my new friend will serve me and comfort me as well as you did.

Today we mourn the passing of our dear friend, Green Robe.  Green Robe was not famous like THE Robe of historical films.  But Green Robe served a noble and long life in the pursuit of comfort of Ellie, AKA ModerateMan.  A man of great wisdom, who would have been poorer had not Green Robe been a constant companion.

We come not to Bury Green Robe, but to praise him, and his unswerving loyalty and devotion to his companion in life, his bussom buddy, his mentor and best friend.

Green Robe is gone, but will not be forgotten.  Perhaps he will live on, not only in our memories, but as a chair cover, or Dust rag.  For great robes do not go quietly into that good night!  They rage for usefulness beyond their years!

Such is the life and times of the great ones.  May he always bring joy to the Cheruphim and Seraphim in the great beyond!

Rrrrriiiiiiiippppppp.

Let us praise the color Blue! It is so royal and regal and overlooked! While we regale purple with hosannas and praise, we neglect the simple blue!

But no longer! For we will praise it in song and scripture and let all the world know that Blue Robes are given to us from on High!

Let the bells ring and the birds sing, that forever more, Blue is the color of Robes! And all else is but a pale imitation!

Thus let it be written, thus let it be so!

{now someone get my damn wig!}

Oh we can start a grief support group, for I lost my blue bathrobe, a soft, fleece one about 2 years ago...

I think that anyone that has lost a beloved peice of clothing they treasured should join out support group trudy.

Oh, if the robe is as soft as you say, it could be pressed into service as polishing cloths, if you could bear cutting it up.

at Doc. You're on fire...

Great suggestion! (that's what my mom would do!!)

It seems your new robe will be quite beautiful and blue is a great color! Ode to your old green robe. I have an old robe too that's so comfortable, it's in a black and white leopard print and each tear just gets repaired, I can't part with it.
