unlocking drivers

I know this might not be the smartest thing to do but, Does anyone know how to unlock the uxtheme.dll driver??? aparently it controls the wsstyles themes. I'm unable to load wsstyle themes because the default driver is locked and deos not allow 3rd party themes to be installed. any help is appreciated.

The uxtheme patch is around on the net for using unsigned themes, though patching system files is 'at your own risk', as you can imagine...and voids/violates the MS EULA.

Better to simply run Windowblinds and import these 'unsigned' themes via SkinStudio....

Great advice!!!! Sooo how does that work???? I'm familiar with doing OD but not WB skins. does SS automatically turn the wsstyles into wb skins???? (sorry to sound so noobish)

rychian, it's not a good idea, not even to use the uxtheme patch, as it can really mess with your system. I tried it once, before discovering Stardock, and with disasterous results....there is of course, StyleXP for $20 to do it, but again it hacks your system and, as Jafo points out, voids and violates your EULA with MS.

For $20 you're better of purchasing Windowblinds, or go the whole hog and get Object Desktop.....Stardock products will evolve to work with Vista and future OSes, whereas there's no guarantee that StyleXP will due to msstyles being replaced in future OSes.

Sir starkers. LOL, I learned that the hard way. I'll never do that again!!! I just did a fresh install of XP. and the Object Desktop purchase is totaly on the way
