Resetting resolution out of game - Help!

Hi

Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere... I just installed the game and was looking at the video setting seeing what it would go up to. I changed the resolution and DID NOT SAVE the change, and exited the game. I came back to it just now, and it has remembered the last resolution i had selected, and my monitor cannot support the rez. I have repaired / uninstalled and reinstalled the game three times, (with more drastic measures each time) and it still remembers the setting that my monitor cannot display - does anyone know of a way to change the game settings without being in the game?

Thanks for any suggestions,

Andy

It's in the prefs.ini file in your \My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2 folder. Open the file in notepad, and change the following lines to what you want:

[Video]
DisplayWidth=1152
DisplayHeight=864
ColorDepth=32
Fullscreen=0

First two are self explanatory. Colordepth HAS to be 32. Anything less does not work. If you want to start in full screen, set this to 1. Otherwise set it to 0 for windows mode. If you are having issues I recommned windows mode until you straighten things out as it is more stable.

I had the same problem. I am running the game on a laptop with a native LCD resolution of 1600x1200 and when I restarted to the new res, the aspect ratio was screwed up, with the 'center' of the image being somewhere just off the right of my display. I tried manually resetting the resolution as you described, but the layout of the buttons and such is still hosed.
