objectdock...png or others

hey everyone,
I have a question about creating docks for objectdock. Do the graffix have to be in .png format or will other formats work??? I tried a dock from a jpeg and it didnt work, but I changed it to a .png and it worked but the size had to be adjusted, as it was streched.

Did I answer my own question???
