Scientology....What's the deal?

As far as religion goes, I'm pretty easy going. I can see most sides of the story. I get Christianity, I am down with the Jewish comminity, and Buddah is my homeboy. I can even see the Athiest/Agnostic side of the coin.

But Scientology, I don't buy it.

Any religion that believes that A) depression is brought on by alien spirits, and B) was created by a science fiction writer just seems like a bunch of horse shit to me. I don't even know if I would consider it a religion. Actually, it sounds more like a trendy cult for the rich and famous.

Take Tom Cruise for example. Does he seem outright looney to anyone else? Telling the world that post pardum depression does not exist and medicine is for the weak. ...What about the sonogram machine....and that silent birth crap?? Has he lost his mind? He even persuaded Chef to leave the loveable town of South Park. Fuck you, Tom Cruise!

I think L. Ron actually invented it for the sake of enjoyment....to see which Southern Cali looney tunes would buy into it. Well, his plan worked!

I guess Some people just have nothing better to do....Myself included, or I wouldn't be blogging about it. If you know any more info on this cult for the rich and ignorant, please feel free to enlighten me.

Forgive me if I sound biased.

I wish there were some Scientologists here that could enlighten us.
There is a place in boston where they will invite you in to see a movie with them, when you are in there they close the doors and try to suck you in.

BTW I just saw "Chef Returns" last night. wo what a salvo South Park shot at these guys!

Operation Clambake has the stuff on it. I don't know, though, I hesitate to attack people because of what they believe. I'm as guilty about it as anyone, but honestly any of our beliefs could be made up.

Where I condone my derision is concerning the behavior and the operation of the "church" of scientology. If they want to believe that they were alien racecar drivers in past lives, no problem, but charging people money to take part and sueing anyone that tries to tell the world what they believe is cult activity, in my opinion.

You have to wonder how on earth people who seem as intelligent as the average member gets so hoodwinked by it all. Don't get me wrong, Tom Cruise is no Einstein, but I know a lot of truly, truly stupid people; people that really shouldn't be taking care of themselves, and I couldn't convince them of this stuff. How do they get this to stick?

Not to defend them or attack them as I really dont know enough about the religion to comment.  But L ROn Hubbard is no Science Fiction writer!  He is probably a writer and one of fiction, but that about ends that part of it.
