You can read what it is here Link
And download it here Link
Not sure why you're getting the error or why it is missing. Maybe this will help.

Also, put it in your Windows directory (( C:\Windows\ )). I am sure you knew that, but just incase .

Hope you get it working .

How would we know? Why? Maybe it's the reason it never worked on my sys-- do you mean install Logon Studio to C:\Windows\ ? What is the reasoning? Why couldn't it be in X:\Programs\ like everything else?

Sorry--I feel stoopid, but maybe I'll reinstall Logon Stugio & be sure the library file went to the right place...

I don't think I have that problem, tho-- for me, it appears to work, but it never changes the logon...

aimzzz, Logon Studio will always use the same logon unles you click the "Options" button on the left and put a check in "Randomize Logons each boot". You can build a list there of which ones you want to use out of what you have installed.

And that feature I must say is *Very cool!

Sorry--I feel stoopid

Aimzzz Theres nothing to be sorry for or feel "stupid" about, none of us are "born" with knowledge, we must learn..thats all...hang in there!

I think I wasn't clear-- I've never been able to get anything but the Windows default logon. I'm going to try reinstalling now & see if I can get any different results. will report in on the results.

Thanks for your comments, DZ

OK-- I installed LS. It behaves as it did in past attempts. I selected one of the installed Logons-- Welcome1. Tried Apply, which just locks the puter-- someone said it's what Apply does-- there's no point in trying Apply. Why it it there, then? It would be nice if there was consistency between Bootskin & Logon Studio (and if the bullfrog had wings, he could fly...).

Anyway, I restarted the PC. After the Bootskin, I got the default Windows Logon. When the programs started showing up, logonstudio.exe showed on the TaskManager Process list for a few seconds, so LS seems to be running at startup.

Opened LS again. Tried Boss019's suggestion of selecting "Randomize Logons each boot"-- thought it might wake the program up or something
Selected Welcome1, 2 & 3

Restarted the PC. It paused for a very long time after the Bootskin & then the default Windows Logon came up. Again, I could see logonstudio.exe as a Process in TaskManager for a few seconds after startup, so the program is starting but no doing what it should do.

Any suggestions or ideas?

Umm Aimzzz, this may not be helpful but I have to ask... do you have the welcome screen enabled in User accounts? You should also checkmark fast user switching...

Also your PC cannot be apart of a domain it needs to be part of a workgroup...

All I can think of at the moment..

welcome screen ? I don't remember it-- must have turned it off years ago if it was possible--sounds irritating-- is it supposed to be on or off? Is that screen that shows a bunch of user pics?

fast user switching... I'm the only user--will have to look it up

cannot be apart of a domain it needs to be part of a workgroup...

Argh-- stuff I haven't looked at since 2000 or 2001...I'm not on a network so I guess I'n not in a domain-- am I in a workgroup if there's no group? will check

I have it set so I logon in a little dialog box with a text box for my username and another for my password. There's a button to click for options-- I'm thinking I turned off a screen on my parents' computer that had everybody's avatar on it. Should it be on or off?
I do have XP, but I had fixed it not to bother me with that stuff-- then I forgot about it...

*clicks to open XP Help*

OK--groggy past begins to come back...

I have Welcome screen off. To use Fast User Switching, Welcome must be activated.

This had been a good read, but now I want to know, aimzzz did it work?????

Yay!!!!!
It works! I had no idea that the Welcome screen had anything to do with it-- didn't even remember it existed

I booted a couple of times, checking it out. The first time it seemed to come up much slower than usual. The 2nd time wasn't so bad. Will try it for a while & see how it goes...

Thanks DZ-- I've messed with it every now & then for months with no results till today!

TBC-- it works!!!
