WindowBlinds 5.01 released

WindowBlinds 5.01 released

Tweaks, faster, new features, bug fixes, and more

http://www.windowblinds.net

Stardock has released WindowBlinds 5.01.  WindowBlinds is a program that enables users to completely change the look and feel of Microsoft Windows.  With it, users can apply "skins" that change the existing Windows graphical user interface (GUI) across the entire system.  Title bars, push buttons, radio buttons, the Start bar, and nearly every other part of the Windows interface is changed.

WindowBlinds is one of the most popular desktop customization utilities of all time, used by millions of people.  It's also used by companies such as Microsoft, nVidia, ATI, Nintendo, Blizzard, and many others to create their own custom desktops. The recent Xbox 360 Desktop uses WindowBlinds for instance. Companies also license WindowBlinds based technology in the form of DirectSkin to make their own applications skinnable.  For example, the ATI Catalyst Control Center uses WindowBlinds for its skinning.

WindowBlinds has skinning features not thought possible on Windows XP or before.  For instance, WindowBlinds can support alpha blending in skins (glass effects and other visual enhancements in title bars and controls) as well as animation, shadows, sound effects, and more.

WindowBlinds 5.01 improves performance on X64 based systems, adds support for wallpaper management, taskbar blurring, IE 7 support, and various tweaks, bug fixes, and performance enhancements.

It can be downloaded at www.windowblinds.net.  WindowBlinds can be registered on its own for $19.95 or as part of Stardock's award-winning suite of desktop utilities Object Desktop (www.objectdesktop.com).

I agree, the wallpaper feature is nice. Maybe add randomize wallpaper on startup/WB change?

Or even better than that, change wallpaper every x minutes with a fading effect. That would rock my world!

Holy crap! Taskbar blurring means titlebar blurring isn't too far behind.

I think I just had a GUIgasm....

I like the idea of the wallpaper changer but it would be nice if another window would open. When you have over 7,500 pictures in one folder it takes a long time to scroll through them all.

Good job guys! Regardless the complaints being said with some issues (Format your PC better results),

Why don't you just tell the people to run out and buy a new computer, stupid idiot!

Do you have to pay another $20 for this updated v.5, or can I just download it and use my previous activation code?

I love WB 5,but 5.1 is not skinning IE6!!! Everything else skins properly.Wallpaper addition is nice but,it displays no image info like size or file type.

MontyXP ...I think it's time you did a little house-cleaning.  That's way too many images to have in a Windows-referenced folder...[assuming it to be /windows/web/wallpaper]...

After downloading the new build, it installed right over the top of the old one, and didn't require the different activation key that came with it.

Jafo I have an external harddrive with a folder in it named Wallpaper that I keep all my pictures in(7,664 files 397 folders 2.58 gb). I think it's easier just to open the folder. Besides if I try to add that folder it might crash

Okay boys and girls of Stardock...this is one great update. Runs faster and smoother than it's previous version. Now I'd like to see a prview section for CursorXP like the Wallpaper section of WB.

Wow!! A little high strung aren't we?!? While the suggestion to format your HD just to run WB might be a little extreme it's not like you or anyone have to follow his advice. And if you do feel an overwhelming urge to respond to people, you could at least be mature enough not to resort to name calling. I'm pretty sure you should have outgrown that by the 5th grade.

Bkwtinyman,

If you are referring to the first shot from the left, the WB is "Arrow", and the wall is from "5imple Alpha".

Arrow WB https://www.wincustomize.com/ViewSkin.aspx?SID=1&SkinID=5347&LibID=1

5imple Alpha is installed with WB 5.01, and you can find the wall in the skin folder.

If you are referring to the first shot on top right, the WB is XBox 360 https://www.wincustomize.com/ViewSkin.aspx?SID=1&SkinID=5603&LibID=1

The wall is Galactic Civilizations II - Evil Robot https://www.wincustomize.com/ViewSkin.aspx?SID=1&SkinID=26773&LibID=8

ok I installed this update and ran it, thought it was fine till I tryed to play my favorite game Everquest II, the will not run very well at all with this update, I uninstalled and ran the old 5.0 and my game ran fine, reinstalled and it wouldnt run again, so now I know it is this update messing with it. I am open to sugestions here if anyone has any ideas. Untill then I guess I go back to WB5.0 and wait...
btw what happens is my game goes real real choppy, the graphics hardly move... kind like if I suddenly lost all my RAM.

Are you running your game in a window?

If so and you have an ati graphics card you will find things run slowly if you have per pixel alpha enabled & the game is using antialiasing.  This has not changed from WB 5.0 though as its a bug on ATIs side.

I've requested a link for download in the ususal way but have had no luck. I then e-mailed the folks at Stardock hoping to get some help but nothing so far. Do the have an 800 number or something that I could call so that I can get some assistance in the matter?

bp_ronjon, email [email protected] from the email address you purchased under and I'll sort it out for you. The account you are posting from with the clever name of "yeah right" and no orders under it would not be the one.
