I found this clip whilst playing truant from WC....naughty, naughty boy!! Yeah, I know there's no excuse for being absent, other than for calls of nature, but hey, a bloke's gotta get out once in a while

Anyhow, check out the clip http://www.wimp.com/slick/ and see how paking a car should be done

Now that was great as long as it wasn't trick photography.

...except it's not in Oz - it's a clip from Top Gear (BBC)

There was a B-grade movie called 'Alvin Purple' in the seventies....they used a Valiant [Chrysler] Charger and parked like that....it was done in Matthews Avenue, just outside Essendon Airport. [Melbourne]. Apparently the stunt driver only needed one take....

Ooops.....starkers cocks it up again. Thing is, I've frequently seen this clip on OZ TV and the license plates closely resemble those of the State of N.S.W.
Not only that, the commentator has a bit of an Aussie twang

Yeah, I remember it well.....tho I reckon it was a cut above B-grade cos of the driving....oh, and Brian Cadd doing the vocals for the theme song, not to mention the nudity or sex scenes
To be honest, Jafo, I wouldn't have picked you as the type of bloke who'd sit and watch something like that....but being such a motoring enthusiast, you just had to go see cos somebody told you about the car scenes, hey!

Catch every episode of the A.B.C series in hope of more of the same?

starkers...I knew and still know people in the film industry...so these Aussie shows often had 'connections'/relevance.

Example....a battle sequence [filming] was postponed in LOTR because the horse wrangler had promised one of my friends to finish his work on her project first....[Second Unit Director on the Aus/Canadian co-production of The Saddle Club]....so he told Jackson to work around it...

Can't say I 'know' people in the film industry, but I met Dianne Cilento and her mother when living in Brisbane....my mother made dresses for them. But my real claim to fame of meeting a big TV/film star was back in the 60's with Roger Moore of The Saint, The Persuaders and later, James Bond. He had a holiday home in Devon England, about ten minutes away from my home.....one of several meetings was one rainy day when he gave me a lift to my grandmother's house in the next town. My mother and his wife of the time, Dorothy Squires, a popular singer in England at the time, went to school together. I also met and shook hands with Sir Winston Churchill when I won an award for an essay on the causes of WWII...similar sort of thing with Prince Charlie, but I think of him as more infamous than famous these days.

I think my memorable meetings with a celebrity, however, were with Agatha Christie ....she was the patron of my primary school and held an essay writing contest every year while I was there. I won it 3 times....the prize each time was a quid, one of her recent books and afternoon tea at her cottage, with herself and husband Sir Max Mallowan.

The commentator is Tiff Needell, definitely not from Oz http://fifthgear.five.tv/jsp/5gmain.jsp?lnk=461&featureid=35&description=Tiff%20Needell&section=presenters  He can drive too...   http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=4786

My parking skills take place at a more leisurely pace. Though I can fit it into very small gaps...

Oh yeah!! Thing is, could you do it in a tank....how about an 18 wheeler? Now that would be impressive!

I knew that! Only suggested an Aussie twang in a pathetic attempt to extricate myself from the boo-boo....thanks ever so for pointing it out.
We do get a few B.B.C. programmes - segments here on our equivelant A.B.C, which is probably where I've seen that clip before but wasn't paying enough attention....thus my confusion regarding its origin. I don't watch a lot of television since getting my PC, and then I've only one eye on it while logged into WC....

I'm permanently parked these days. I let my license lapse and no longer drive because of disabilities which would make me an unsafe motorist, and thus a danger to other road users, etc.....
And at 186cm and 106kg these days, 'very small gaps' are long a thing of the past.
