dread lords

I jsut need some advice

Well i started playing this for the first time about a week ago and made it pas tthe first set of missions. Now that i am in the second part it seems almost impossable to do. I can't seem to biuld fast enough or protect my planets. The dread lords fleet jsut cuts through me like i am jsut standing there doing nothing. If anyone has any kind of advice please help

First, all of the Dreadlord missions that I remember beating were lose-able. Let them beat you or retire and you can play a much easier branch-off mission. Second, the first Dreadlord mission does not actually require you to fight the Dreadlords. So don't. Rush to the objective as fast as possible.

you need a colony or a starbase closer.... or a couple support modules on the ship.
