Old GFaqs tradition :)

Usually when a game is out and the game's forum is well frequented, there's always a party-popper to create games like this, so here is it!

The goal is : I post my custom civ with all the details, then someone else posts and rates it on /10, then posts his own civs, someone rates it and posts theirs, etc. I thought that would make a nice change from the "halp game broken!" topics

STORY :

The Shaitan Kingdom believe in colonisation. These hardened colonists fear nothing and no one, and learned to live with limited means and develop technology rapidly on unfriendly worlds. This is why they recieve a Weapon boost of 15% and a Research bonus of 20%.

Since almost everyone on Shaita Prime is part of the Royal Family, each of its citizens is important, and their sophisticated culture is revered in all the galaxy. Their governement is very complex, allowing every citizen on the planet that is part of the Royal Family(read : everyone) to rule for a day each, starting with the wisest. This is why they recieve a 20% influence bonus and a 20% Diplomacy bonus.

Finally, they are adept users of the Mercantilism doctrine, so they recieve a 20% boost in Economy.

The Shaitans don't believe in specialisation, but they tend to use beam weapons and shields, because, quoting King Valkari : "any other weapon is for sissies".

An improvement over the Ashkapurar, the Feiterar is an all-purpose heavy fighter especially devastating versus beam weapons.

A specialised frigate, the Festokeren can take a lot of beams and dish out a moderate amount of damage. Unlike the Feiterar, it can also take on Missile weapons with ease.

The best Scout there is on the market. However, like most Shaitan scout technology, it comes too late to be useful, needing a Large hull and Warp Drives to build. It can be used for diversions, though.

You want unorginal? My name is Raymond in real life and my races name is The Raymonians, from the Homeworld of Raymonia. I mean come on.

But anyway the Raymonians are well on there way to defeating the terran alliance. Hehe.

"Raymonia" just sounds too much like a particle name for my taste.
I half expect to see a paper come out on "Decays of the Raymonia(1135) Resonance".

As for my little Shaitans...well they have like 1/4 of the influence in a 6-civ game, and a military rating of...558. With 11 Ashkapurar-class ships, 5 heavy fighters and 10 of those specialised frigates.

I wanted to try Fool, the comp really is a fool >_>

The Silix

The Silix are made of a mettaloid with properties similar to silicon and silver. Whereas their skin isn't hard as a metal, it is smooth and cold to the touch, but still soft flesh. The Silix are typically cool headed and reserved, choosing actions very carefully with serious thoughts to the consequences. As such, the Silix tend to favor peaceful ways of coexistance over military, but will carry arms if they feel threatened by any means. Their emblem is known as the Silixan Cross.

Major Ship Design Sucesses:
Snappers:
When the Torians made threats towards the Silix, the Silix gave in and paid their tribute, only to design this fighter for revenge. During the initial Torian-Silix war, the Snappers saw wide use, ultilizing twin missile launchers in leau of a proper life support system or defense. These saw wide usage and came with sucess in fighting back Torian threat. After the Silix take the nearby system, the Torians agreed to peace. Near the end of this conflict saw the galaxy's first medium sized vessel, the Hailberd.

Hailberds: A ship utilizing both beam and missile technology, it saw usage (and dominance) over three wars before being made obsolete. After things went sour with the Torians once again, the Hailberd saw the final conquest of the Torians. During the taking of Toria IV, while three fleets of Hailberds awaited the arrival of a Troop Transport, when a Terran Troop transport with an escort came pulling in. After deliberation, the Silix decided that occupation of Toria IV was neccessary, and the Transport was attacked. Three fleets of Hailberds were sent to the Terran sector, but where ultimately tossed aside by heavy Terran defenses. With the Torians denying the last planet to the Silix through surrendering to the Altarians, and a war escalating between the two, it was prudent that the Terran-Silix war be ended immediately. After negotiations, the peace treaty was signed, and Silix turned their attention towards the Altarians. A few fleets of Hailberds and the taking of Toria I, Alteria, and Wisp, the Altarians surrendered to the Thalans. Just as the Silix prepared for peace, the Terrans declare war on them. After their previous bad luck, a new ship was to be designed.

The Fire Warriors: Focusing entirely on attack and no thoughts on defense, the Fire Warriors saw mixed results in the Terran-Silix war. It wasn't long before it was replaced by a more well thought out design.

Pheonixes: This odd looking vessel contained fantastic beam arms and plenty of sheilding. The Hailberd now officially obsolete, fleets of Fire Warriors and Pheonixes were the force that over came the human armies, but not without severe casualties on both sides. A second peace treaty is signed, and peace returns after Earth and Mars are captured. After the aquisition of a world under control of a lesser race, the Silix are propelled into yet another Terran-Silix war. This time, the humans surrendered their worlds to the Silix, ending war in the galaxy for many more years.

Imperialis: The Imperialis was a ship designed in peacetime. Fire Warriors were made obsolete and the Pheonixes weren't looking so hot with the competetion, so a better ship was designed. It's effectiveness isn't by anymeans denied, but soon would come the era of large ships.

Behemoths: The only large design of ships, also designed in peacetime. Ultilizing several different types of weaponry, it was difficult to sheild against, but peace would continue until Massive ships were made.

Gigans: The most powerful ship in the galaxy. A single Gigan could destroy entire fleets. After an Silixian fanatic assassinates the Thalan leader, the Thalan-Silix war saw the first usage of the large collection of war ships accumilated. The war was disaterous for the Thalan, and was ended after a long planet exchange. The Silixians now the most powerful race alive, their fall was impossible to foretell. Morale, for no comprehensible reason, plumited. With a all time low approval of 1%, Kushinagi felt it was in his race's best interest to bind with the Thalans, of which relations were good with once again. Now a combined race, Kushinagi disappeared from the public eye, and there exists no record of what happened to the Silix from this point on.

Name: Republic of Texas

Story:

It goes like this. 50 years from now, everything is going to fall apart in the middle east.. its going to cost millions of lives and will bring earth to its breaking point. The good news is that this will be the first step towards a unified Earth, as all countries come together for the greater good, the bad news is that everyone blames this catastrophy on Dubya Bush. The United states, under pressure from other countries, passes laws that restrict Texans from holding public office.

At this turn of events, Texas decides its time to move away from the United states. Texas had progressed over the last year from the largest source of energy in the US, to the ONLY source of energy in the US, and so, when this law is passed, Texas flips the switch.

While the rest of the United States is fumbling around in the dark, Texas gets in touch with their long time business partners in the middle east, and an invasion of the US is set in motion.

Long story short, The United States becomes The Republic of Texas. Upon gaining control of North America.. the Texas government changes to a dictatorship. The borders are closed and all connections to the outside world are shut off. A large defensive program is put into effect to protect The Republic from outside intrusion and invasion, and..basicly..no one comes into Texas and no one leaves Texas for about 20 years.

In 2076, the borders are reopened and the world is amazed to see that behind their walls, The Republic of Texas was creating a utopian society. They had discovered cold fusion, and the limitless supply of energy had allowed them to advance far beyond any other country on Earth.

The rest of Earth.. having experienced 20 years of peace and relative prosperity, did not have the military strength to put up any kind of fight, and before long, Earth was renamed "Texas".

However... The Republic of Texas quickly grew weary of the whining and bickering of their newly oppressed, weaker nations.. and decided that Earth had become a boring and primitive place. They longed to continue their utopian existance behind closed doors, and wished they had never revealed themselves to the rest of the world.

So they made a choice.. they constructed a ship, though it wasnt capable of the kind of travel that Hyperdrive would later allow. But they packed in all the Texans who wanted to leave, and flew to Mars.

Again...long story short...

They began terraforming mars.. creating a new Texas.. things were going fairly well until Hyperdrive was discovered on Earth, using the Fusion technology they had left behind, and the stargate technology. Seeing an opportunity, the Texans sent a emmisary to earth and got in touch with the leftover Republic of Texas supporters, and acquired the design specifications.

Constructing their own Hyperdrive ship, the Texans set off into space and found an Earth-like Planet. They named it Texas, and that is where the story starts for me in the game.


Its not very well written.. thats cause right now its still an outline hehe. Once I finish my English degree, I may actually turn it into a Sci/Fi novel .. Texans would read it hehe.


Anyway.. going with the Texan Theme.. my ships have names like:

Lonesome Dove: My scout ship
Texas Ranger: My small fighter
Longhorn: My medium fighter
Alamo Class: my large fighter
Texas Pride: my huge fighter

and I make up names for other designs as I go. ive had the Goliad class, the Mathew McConaghey(sp)...so on and so forth.

All my planets are named after cities in Texas.

These are renegade Terrans who are unhappy with the way the Terran Alliance rules things. They believe in isolationism and self-sufficience, and they moddeled their governements after the way the old Romans did. Their army is arranged about the same, and their ships are the finest avaliable. This is why they get (add stats later).

They mostly use impact weapons, like mass drivers and missiles.

Legionary(is it possible? I'm thinking these at school, so I can't check. If I remember, a small hull has 20-something comps slots, so it should be alright)
