Free upgrades and Money? Treasury is broken?

If your treasury goes below -2k it auto defaults back to -2k at the begining of the following turn. In other words, say you have 1BC, but something that pushes your treasury to -18k, the next turn you jump all the way back up to -2k regardless of how much money you are making.

I cannot find any evidence of things being sold off, or of the action that cost the money not working.

Also you can upgrade ships witha neg treasury.

Basicly this means you can buy any wonder, any amount of upgrades, etc as long as you don't mind going to -2000bc, which takes 2 or 3 rounds to earn on the realy big maps.

Wow that sounds like an exploit.

No, its a hardcap to the treasury, put there intentionally to keep a new player from upgrading a lot of ships early on and finding him/herself with -10k in debt that they will never get out of. There was an earlier thread on this, it is a design feature.

Argh, that seems REALLY exploitable, though.

If it's just to help out new players, can we have this feature disabled on Tough and harder difficulties, or something? (That is, if all AIs are Intelligent or better, this feature should be disabled). I'm pretty sure I can find a way to abuse the hell out of this, otherwise.

That is the worst "feature" I have seen then.

If they wanted a hard-cap why not just make it so you can't spend more money than -2k?

As it is all you need to do is mass produce empty hulls at nearly no cost and 0 maintenence during peace and then when ready to do anything upgrade them all at one time to the top tech in the galaxy. Total cost for upgrading hundreds or even thousands of ships from unarmed and naked to insane power? 2k BC.

Guess we can't trust any Metaverse rankings for games that allow this.

I was playing on "Bright" (5th diff of 8)

How much higher until you can't do things like this?
