Scale slider doesn't function

Howdy... unless I'm missing something, I can't seem to grab and drag the scale slider in the ship design mode. Even when I click on the left and right arrows manually it doesn't seem to have any effect on whatever part I have highlighted at the time. Is anyone else able to use this feature properly?

You can't resize parts after they've been placed; moving the slider will adjust the size of the piece you currently have picked up on the cursor (if you have one).
